Sheldon Gets Two From Sibley Ocheyedan

Orab-LogoSheldon hosted Sibley Ocheyedan Friday night in a Siouxland Conference double header. The Orabs got the sweep winning the baseball game 14-4 and taking the softball game 8-3.
In a six inning baseball contest Sheldon scored four runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth to break open a close game. Matt Buenger went 2-for-3 with a pair of rbis and scored three runs. Graden Nordahl drove in three runs and scored a run with a 2-for-4 performance. Mitch Jensen contributed a pair of runs scored.

The Generals were led by Kyle Green who drove in two runs. Brady Meinders had an rbi as well. Andrew Marco went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Evan Mehls scored a pair of runs in the contest.

Ben Marshall got the win scattering 7 hits. He gave up 2 earned runs, walked 2 and struck out 2. Kyle Green was tagged with the loss. He struck out 2 in three and a third innings pitched.
On the softball field Sibley Ocheyedan scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning. Sheldon took the lead for good with two runs in the home half of the inning. The Orabs put four on the board in the second and added two more in the third. That would be the extent of the scoring until the General plated two runs in the top of the sixth to make the final 8-3.

Sheldon was led by Abbi Meendering who went 2-for-3 with two rbi’s. Krista Bousema drove in two going 2-for-4 on the night. Caitlin Cain, Sami Kleinwolterink and Allie Jongewaard each drove in a run.

Sibley Ocheyedan was led by Taylor Wasmund who drove in a run and scored a run. Other rbi’s came off the bats of Jurnea Harberts and Jessica Loerts.

Allie Jongewaard got the win giving up 3 runs while walking 4 and striking out 5. Jurnea Harberts was tagged with the loss. She gave up 4 earned runs, struck out 3 and did not walk a batter.
