Sheldon Sweeps Sibley Ocheyedan

Sheldon Orabs 2Sibley Iowa — The Sheldon Orabs got a road sweep over Sibley Ocheyedan in Siouxland Conference Basketball Friday night. The Orabs took the girls game 49-47 and followed with a 59-46 in the boys game.

A pair of free throws by Orab senior Sydney Iedema with 10 seconds left was the difference in the girls game. Iedema  led all scorers with 20 points. Kayla Van Meeteren hit 4 three-point buckets  on the way to an 18 point night from the outside. The Generals were led by Britta Harberts with 12 points and Megan Grimes with 9.

Sibley Ocheyedan took a 12-10 first quarter lead with the Orabs moving in front 26-24 at the half and remained in front 39-33 at the end of the third quarter on route to the win. Sheldon moves to 3-9 for the year and 2-8 in the conference. Sibley Ocheyedan is 2-10 for the season and 0-10 in the conference.

 

In the boys game Sheldon led at all the breaks 13-11 at the end of the first quarter, 25-21 at the half and 44-32 after the third quarter. The Orabs would go on to win it 59-46.

Sheldon got a game high 26 points from Kyle Boerhave and 9 from Jayden Kleinhesselink. The Generals had two players in double figures as well with Preston Marco leading the way with 14 followed by Grant Brouwer with 12. Sheldon improves to 5-6 on the year and 5-4 in the Siouxland. The Generals are 2-9 for the year and 1-8 in the conference.

Up next for Sheldon will be a non-conference doubleheader at home with Spencer Tuesday night. Sibley Ocheyedan will play host to Rock Valley for a conference doubleheader.
