Sioux Center Falls to Top Ranked Kuemper in 2A Football Semi Finals

warriors logoTop ranked Kuemper Catholic ended Sioux Center’s football season with a 28-6 win in Saturdays Class 2A semi finals. With the loss the District 1 champions end the year at 10-3. Kuemper moves on to the championship with a 13-0 record.


The Warriors went 76 yards on seven plays with their first posesion before losing quarterback Andrew O’Donnell for the rest of the game. O’Donnell was sidelined with a knee injury suffered on a keeper at the Kuemper 11 yard line.

With O’Donnell out Sioux Center was unable to finish the drive. They would score the first points of the game as they forced a fumble on Kuemper’s first snap. The was recovered by the Warriors Steven Peterman at the 13 yard line. The short field was cashed on on a 1 yard quarterback sneak by Ko Kieft put the Warriors on the board first. The extra point was no good but Sioux Center had the lead at 6-0.

The Knights answered with a 6 yard run by quarterback Cole Neary. The kick was good and Kuemper had the lead for good 7-6. a 66 yard touchdown pass in the second quarter put Kuemper up 13-6 at half time.

In the third quarter Nearly scored on a 1 yard run. A two point conversion put the Knights up 21-6 and a 28 yard run by Neary made the final 28-6 following a successful kick for the extra point.

13-0 Kuemper Catholic will play 12-1 Waukon for the Class 2A title Friday November 22nd back at the UNI Dome with kick off at 2:06
