Sioux Center Takes Two From Sheldon

warriors logoSioux Center, Iowa — The Sioux Center Warriors swept the Sheldon Orabs in basketball action Tuesday night in Sioux Center. The girls game went to Sioux Center 64-17, and the Orabs boys 9 game win streak was snapped after falling 63-46 to the Warriors.

Sioux Center ranked #2 in Class 3A jumped out to a quick lead in the girls game, and by the end of the 1st quarter the Warriors lead was 15-3.  Sioux Center continued to roll in the 2nd, and heading into the half their lead extended to 35-13. The Warriors continued to cruise in the 2nd half and eventually came away with the 64-17 victory.

10 players scored for the Warriors. Sioux Center got a game high 10 points from Jordyn Van Maanen. The Orabs leading scorer was Tayler Weber with 8 points.

Sioux Center continues their undefeated streak at 14-0, and is 12-0 in the Siouxland. Sheldon falls to 3-11 on the year, and 2-10 in the conference.

The boys contest featured the Sheldon Orabs who put up their 9 game win streak on the line against the Warriors.  After the opening 8 minutes, Sioux Center would lead 15-10. Heading into halftime the score was 32-21 in favor of the Warriors. The ball continued to bounce in the Warriors favor in the 3rd quarter. Sioux Center’s lead was 48-38 heading into the final quarter. The long ball kept dropping for the Warriors, and along with free throws, Sioux Center sealed the 63-46 win. The Warriors out gunned Sheldon from behind the arc 9-1 on three-point baskets for the contest.

Sioux Center had 4 players in double figures. Isaac Vietor put in a team high 19, 15 points came from Tyler Van Beek, and Tyus Arends and Cade Bleeker added 10 points each. The Orabs got a game high 21 points from Ryan Van Marel and Jaden Kleinhesslink had 17 points.

Sioux Center improves to 8-4 on the season, 8-3 in the Siouxland. Sheldon falls to 11-2 on the year, 9-2 in the conference.

The Orabs will be back in action on Friday with a home contest against Rock Valley. Sioux Center will host Unity on Thursday.
