Sioux Center Takes Two From Sheldon

Sioux Center, Iowa — The Sioux Center Warriors swept Sheldon in Sioux Center Friday night 66-43, and 44-43.

An overwhelming defense from Sioux Center was too much for the Sheldon Orabs in the girls contest.

Sheldon was able to keep pace in the opening quarter with 2 Cassidy Bart three pointers, but Sioux Center would lead 16-13 after the first 8 minutes. Sioux Center started to pull away, and by the end of the 1st half, the Warrior’s lead was 34-22. Sioux Center proceeded to outrun Sheldon en route to a 57-31 third quarter lead, and came away with the 66-43 victory.

Sioux Center had 4 players in double figures. Jordyn Van Maanen and Shayla Post both had a game high 15 points, while Camryn Cleveringa added 12 points, and Alexis Toering had 10 points.

Sheldon’s leading scorer was Brooklyn Grady with 15 points of her own.

Sioux Center improves to 3-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Siouxland. Sheldon falls to 0-3 on the year and in the conference.

It was a game of runs in the 1st half for the boys’ contest.

Sioux Center opened the game with a 5-0 run, then Sheldon countered with an 8-0 run and after 1, Sheldon led 16-9. The Warriors started the 2nd quarter with a 10-0 run to take the lead at 19-16, but Sheldon responded with a 5-0 run and at the half, the Orabs led 27-22. Sheldon went on a 7-0 run in the 3rd to take a 38-33 lead heading into the final quarter. Sioux Center then went on a 5-0 run in the 4th to tie things up at 41 a piece. With the game tied at 43, Brendan Zeutenhorst went to the free throw line with 6 seconds left. He missed the first, but made the 2nd to give the Warriors a 44-43 lead. Jaden Kleinhesselink then drove down the court and his runner was off the mark and Sioux Center took the 44-43 win.

Sioux Center got a team high 12 points from Cade Bleeker. The Orabs got a game high 13 from Jaden Kleinhesselink

Sioux Center improves to 2-0 on the year, 2-0 in the Siouxland. Sheldon falls to 1-1 on the year and in the conference.

Up next of the Orabs is a non-conference double header at Paullina against South O’Brien Saturday afternoon. Sioux Center is back in action on Tuesday versus Okoboji in Sioux Center.
