Sioux Center Takes Two From Sheldon

The Sioux Center Warriors swept a Siouxland Conference basketball doubleheader as they defended the home floor. The girl’s final was 46-37 with Sioux Center taking the boy’s game 57-52.

In the girls game the Warriors opened up a 15-2 first quarter lead and rode that momentum the rest of the way. They were up at halftime 24-11 and led 35-17 at the end of the third quarter as they went on to the win.

Sioux Center had three players in double figures led by Morgan Rozeboom with 13 points. Paige Foreman hit for a dozen while Amber Baker added 10.

Crystal Rodger led the Orabs with 10 points including a three-pointer as the game ended.

With the win Sioux Center improves to 11-6 in the conference and 12-8 on the season. Sheldon slips to 6-12 in the conference and 7-13 on the season.
In the boys game that followed Sheldon led 9-4 at the end of the first quarter. A three pointer by Jason Sneller as time wound down in the half game the Warriors a 26-23 halftime lead. Sioux Center pushed the lead to 40-33 at the end of the third quarter before going on to win 57-52. Sheldon would pull to within four points late in the game bout Sioux Center made the key free throws that put the game away.

T J Buyert led Sioux Center with 17 points including four three-point buckets. He was joined in double figures by Micah Lassen with 11 points.

Sheldon got a game high 20 points from Dallas Ennema including 12 in the fourth quarter to fuel the Orabs come back attempt. Matt Dykstra hit for double figures as well with 11 points on the night.

With the win Sioux Center improves to 12-4 in the conference and 14-5 on the season. Sheldon stands at 9-9 in the conference and 9-10 for the season.

Next action for Sheldon comes on Tuesday when they travel to West Lyon for the final doubleheader of the season. The Sheldon boys wrap up the regular season Friday night at home against Central Lyon. The girls open tournament play on Saturday the 11th at Hartley against Hartley Melvin Sanborn
