Northwest Iowa — The high school sports season continued with softball and baseball on the schedule for Friday. Sheldon traveled to West Lyon for Siouxland Conference softball and baseball. West Lyon got the sweep over Sheldon taking the baseball game 6-3 and the softball game 10-0.
In the baseball match up Orab rbi’s came from Ross Van Kley, Colby Kleinhesselink and Payton Radke. Max Tolk and Jaden Kleinhesselink went 2-for-3 on the night. West Lyon saw runs driven in by Chase Grotewald, Colin Snyder and Tanner Oleson.
Matt Buenger was tagged with the loss. He scattered 6 hits, Gave up 3 earned runs while striking out 5 and walking just 1 batter. Dylan Whalen earned the win scattering 8 hits. He struck out 3 and walked 3.
On the softball diamond the Wildcats posted a 10-0 win. Kelsey Den Hartog led the Sheldon offense with a 2-for-2 game. Also getting hits for the Orabs were Sami Kleinwolterink and Sydney Iedema. Chaydon Metzger led West Lyon driving in 4 runs with a 3-for-4 night. She scored a pair of runs as well. Tiffany Van Beek went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.
Kamii TeGrootenhuis got the win giving up 4 hits and striking out 3. Sami Kleinwolterink took the loss. She struck out 4.
