Northwest Iowa — The Thursday high school sports schedule featured a scattering of baseball and softball games. The high light was day one of the Okoboji softball tournament. Sheldon is among the teams in the field at Milford and came away with a win and a loss after day one.
HMS got the better of Sheldon 11-7 with Claire Solsma and Tristan Haag driving in 3 runs each. Solsma led the offense with a 3-for-5 performance and a pair of runs scored. Sheldon was led by Sydney Iedema with a pair of rbi’s. Also driving in runs were Alexa Vanden Hall, Kayla Van Meeteren and Nicole Johnson.
Krista Orthmann earned the win throwing a 5 hittr at the Orabs. She struck out 4 and walked 4. Sami Kleinwolterink took the loss walking 3 and striking out 3.
Sheldon posted a 21-9 win over Greattinger Terril Ruthven Ayreshire in four innings. Kati Kneifl led the way with 4 rbi’s. It was part of a 4-for-4 game with 5 runs scored. Macy Jacobsma went 2-for-4 with a run scored and drive in 4 as well.
Nicole Johnson threw four hitless innings walking 3 and striking out 3. Sheldon returns to the Okoboji tournament for day two on Saturday.
