Sports Scores From Tuesday May 10th

golf course - sheldon 2Northwest Iowa — Conference meets were scheduled for high school golf on Tuesday. Along with that a handful of soccer matches were also on the schedule.

Boys Golf
Boyden Hull out shot Sheldon 160-165 to win a Siouxland Conference meet hosted by Okoboji at Emerald Hills. MOC Floyd Valley was next at 166 followed by Sioux Center at 168 and Okoboji at 170 to round out the top five.

Medalist honors went to Matt Van Engen Sioux Center. He won on a tie breaker over Brock De Boer of Sioux Center and Tyler Merley of Sheldon who were all at 38. The rest of the top six were all at 39. In tie breaker order they were Tate Arends of MOC Floyd Valley along with Eric Visscher and Keaton Van Roekel both of Boyden Hull.

2016 Siouxland Conference Boys Golf – Oko Team Results

Estherville Lincoln Central won Lakes Conference meet at Storm Lake with a team total 323. Western was second at 328.

Taylor Westphal of Western Christian was the medalist at 76. Team mate Cade Broek was the runner up at 77. The rest of the top six were tied at 78 and included Ezra Meyer of Spencer, Trey Jacobson and Jack Brashear both from Estherville Lincoln Central along with Eric Masters from Storm Lake.

Girls Golf
MOC Floyd Valley won the Siouxland Conference meet they hosted at Landsmeer. The Lady Dutch carded a team total 189 to edge Rock Valley who put together a 203. Central Lyon was next at 208 followed by Sibley Ocheyedan at 230 and West Lyon at 233.

Medalist honors went to Hannah Butler of Okoboji with a 40. Brooke Dau of MOC Floyd Valley was the runner up at 45. Britta Harbers of Sibley Ocheyedan fired a round of 46. The rest of the top six in tie breaking order were Kenzi Vlotho of Rock Valley, Samantha VanderVeld of Sioux Center and Alexa Arends of MOC Floyd Valley. All three had rounds of 47.

Siouxland Conference Girls Golf meet at MOC 5-10-16


Unity Christian was one shot better than Akron Westfield at the War Eagle Conference girls meet at the Ridge. 382-383 was the team final. Hinton was third at 393 followed by Harris Lake Park at 462 and LeMars Gehlen at 465 to round out the top five.

Alyssa Fedders of Unity medaled with an 86 followed by Madison Johnson and Mackenzie Grenko of Hinton who were both at 92. Chanda Zomermaand of Unity along with Ann Hedlund and Baily Davis of Akron Westfield who were all at 92.

2016 WEC Girls Golf Tournament


Emmetsburg claimed the team title at the Lakes Conference meet at Spencer Country Club. The E-Hawks fired a team total 384 to Spencer’s 393. Western was third at 404.

Medalist honors went to Allison Freeman of Emmetsburg at 82. Team mate Sarah Pugh was runner up at 91. Rounding out the top five were Maycin Gonnerman of Western at 94, Marisa Weeks of Spirit Lake at 95 and Payton Harmsen of Western who fired a 98.
