State Football Championships Wrap up Monday

ihsaa_officeCedar Falls Iowa — Iowa high school football championship games got underway Thursday at the UNI Dome and will now continue Monday due to the Friday snow storm postponement. Two teams from the northwest Iowa districts played for titles Thursday with Spirit Lake and Western Christian playing for titles on Monday.

 

Thursday, November 19

Class 8-Player
Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn 57, Don Bosco, Gilbertville 52 (MMC QB Ben Specht set a state record with 7 TD passes. MMC finishes unbeaten at 13-0)

Class A
Gladbrook-Reinbeck 52, Akron-Westfield 20 (Akron Westfield finishes at 11- 3)

Class 3A
Pella 31, Norwalk 17

 

Monday, November 23

Class 1A
Regina, Iowa City 35, Western Christian 28 (Western finishes at 11-3)

Class 2A
Spirit Lake 70, Mount Vernon 56 (Spirit Lake end the year at 14-0)

Class 4A
Dowling Catholic, WDM 41, Cedar Rapids, Kennedy 10 (Dowling wins their third straight title finishing 14-0)
