Day three of the Iowa State Wrestling Tournament got underway at 10am Saturday morning with the consolation matches in all classes. The day will finished with the finals in all classes beginning with the Grand March at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
The top finish for area wrestlers was turned in by Tyler Dolieslager of Boyden Hull Rock Valley who finished second in the state at 220 pounds in Class 2A. Dolieslager wrestled his way to the championship match by opening with a 7-6 decision Thursday and followed that on Friday with a 7-2 decision in the quarterfinals and a pin in the semifinals in a time of 5:19. The senior finishes the season with a record of 47-4.
In the 2A consolation semifinals Saturday at 160 pounds Jacob Van Ginkel of Western-Unity lost by fall and then came out on the short end of a 12-4 score in the fifth place match. He finished 6th at the State Tournament.
At 220 pounds Bryce Kelleher of Sheldon South O’Brien dropped an 11-9 decision in the consolation semis and followed that with a 6-2 loss in the fifth place match to finish 6th in the tournament.
In Class 1A Colby McIntire of Central Lyon George Little Rock finished fourth at 126 pounds. He posted an 11-3 major decision in the consolation semifinals and was pinned in the third place match.
