State Track and Field Day 1

track and field 3Des Moines Iowa — Day one of the State Track and Field Meet is underway in Des Moines and Northwest Iowa is well represented. Here are the top ten finishes for area athletes.

Class 2A shot put
Micayla TerWee of West Lyon was 4th with a toss of 40-07.50. Kiana Phelps of Kingsley Pierson Woodbury Central won the event with a state record toss of 48-08.75.

Class 2A girls 4×800 meter relay
Unity Christian was 4th in a time of 9:48.38. Team members include Jordan Bos, Katie Broers, Katlyn Hoogland and Anneke Knauss. Monticello won the event with a state record time of 9:25.23.

Class 3A boys 4×800 meter relay
MOC-FV was 10th in a time of 8:21.09. Team members include Christian Korver, Carter Foughty, Michael Anderson and River Meyer. The winning time was 8:00.01.

Class 2A boys 3200 meter run
Jacob Vander Plaats of Unity was 7th in 9:55.88. Tristan Hulstein of Western was 8th in 10:00.58. The winning time was 9:39.94.

Class 2A girls 200 meter prelims
Erika Feenstra of Western Christian had the second fastest time in the prelims at 25.87. The fastest time was 25.85

Class 2A girls 400 meters
Erika Feenstra of Western was 8th in a time of 59.77. The winning time was 57.19.

Class 2A Boys 400 Meters
Travis Zevenbergen of Unity was 4th in a time of 50.24. The winning time was 49.36

Class 2A boys shot put
Caden Fenchel of Western was 5th with a toss of 55-05.25. The winning distance was 61-01.75 by Nick Phelps of Kingsley Pierson Woodbury Central.

Class 2A girls long jump
Mikayla Turek of Unity was second at 17-04.50. Sheldon freshman Ashlyn Albrecht was 3rd with a leap of 17-00.50. The winning distance was 18-00.75.

Class 3A girls high jump
Cassie Van Beek of Boyden Hull Rock Valley was 6th at 5-03.00. The winning jump was 5-05.00.

Class 1A boys 3200 meter run

Joe Anderson of George Little Rock was 4th in 10:02.66. The winning time was 9:45.96.

Class 1A boys 800 medley relay
South O’Brien was 5th in a time of 8:23.66. Team members include Peyton Brasser, Keaton Rohrbaugh, Karter Rohrbaugh and Ben Aberson. The winning time was 8:12.14.
