Taylor Zeutenhorst Drafted by Seattle Mariners

Former Sheldon Orab Taylor Zeutenhorst was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 38th round of the Major League Baseball Player Draft Saturday. Following his senior year at Sheldon High School Zeutenhorst was drafted by Philahelphia in the 41st round. Zeutenhorst opted to accept a scholarship from the Iowa Hawkeyes instead.
In his senior season at Iowa this spring the 6-2 220 pound right fielder was the only Hawkeye to start all 53 games, starting 52 contests in right field and one at first base. Taylor hit .268 (55-of-205) with 37 runs and 35 RBIs… had a team-high nine home runs and 30 walks… posted a .444 slugging percentage… ranked third in the Big Ten in home runs (9), tied for ninth in walks (30) and hit by pitches (10) and had 16 multi-hit games during the 2014 season.
Zeutenhorst was selected as the Big Ten Player of the Week on February 24th after hitting .412 with a slugging percentage of .765 and reached base at a .500 clip at the Snowbird Classic. He hit 3 home runs during the tournament as well.
Taylor helped lead the Hawkeyes to a 30-23 overall record in 2014. The 30 wins are the most for the program since 2010.
Taylor Zeutenhorst is the son of Brad and Sherrie Zeutenhorst.
