Three Area Baseball Players Earn All State Honors

A trio of area baseball players earned All State honors Friday as the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All State Teams were released.
In Class 3A senior Chris Eckstaine of LeMars earned a spot on the second team pitching staff. Chris posted an 8-1 record with a .82 era, allowed an opponents batting average of just .138 and struck out 62 batters. The Bulldogs finished the year at 28-7.
Boyden Hull Rock Valley junior Catcher Colin Bolkema earned a spot on the Class 2A All State Second Team. In 28 games Bolkema was charged with just 1 error and threw out 9 base runners. Offensively he hit .366 in 82 at bats. Bolkema hit 6 doubles and drove in 5 runs in helping lead the Nighthawks to the District finals.
In Class 1A Remsen Saint Mary’s senior third basemen Beau Pick earned a spot on the first team putting up amazing offensive numbers in helping the Hawks to a 25-9 record. In 105 at bats Pick hit 10 doubles, 7 triples and 2 home runs for a total of 19 extra base hits. He drove in 68 runs on the year and finished with a batting average of .505.
