Three CL/G-L-R Footballers Make Their College Football Choices

central lyon logoRock Rapids Iowa — Central Lyon/George-Little Rock Football Head Coach Toby Lorenzen has announced a trio of college signings from the Lions football program

CJ Roths, a 5’11” 205 lb. Running Back/Linebacker from Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids, Iowa announced Wednesday that he has accepted an offer to walk on and has committed to the South Dakota State University Football Program.
Roths is a 1st Team Des Moines Register Linebacker and 1st Team Iowa Newspaper Association All-State Running Back, 1st Team All-District, and was a 3 year two-way starter for the Lions. He helped lead the Lions to playoff appearances in all 3 seasons, including the quarter final round this past year.

This season he had 1,541 yards rushing on 242 attempts for an average of 6.3 yds. per rush, he had 13 receptions, along with averaging 30.8 yds. per kickoff return and 19.0 yds. per punt return, he had 21 touchdowns for the Lions. Defensively he had 118 tackles and 2 interceptions to help lead the Lion’s defense.

He finished his career with 2,967 yards rushing and 56 career receptions to go along with 253 tackles. Roths is a four sport standout for the Lions , starting four years in baseball, three years in basketball and was a member of the 5th place Class 1A 4×100 relay team at last spring’s State Track Meet. CJ is projected to play running back for the Jackrabbits.

CJ will join team mate Pete Menage in Brookings. Menage, a 5’11” 185 lb. Defensive Back/Quarterback also announced Wednesday that he has accepted an offer to walk on and has committed to the South Dakota State University Football Program.

Menage is a 1st Team All-District Quarterback, and was a 3 year starter for the Lions. He guided the Lions to playoff appearances in all 3 seasons, including the quarterfinal round this past year.

This season he threw for 1,396 yards and 16 TD’s, rushed for 393 yards and 2 TD’s. He finished his career with 4,267 yards passing and 5,728 yards of total offense. Menage is a four sport standout for the Lions, starting four years in baseball, three years in basketball, and was a member of the 5th place Class 1A 4×100 relay team at last spring’s State Track Meet.
He also excels in the classroom with a 3.75 GPA, and is a member of the Central Lyon National Honor Society.

Pete is projected to play defensive back for the Jackrabbits who play in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). They are members of the Missouri Valley Conference.

Dillon Bathke, a 6’6” 290 lb. Offensive Lineman from George-Little Rock High School in George, Iowa announced Wednesday that he has accepted a scholarship offer and has committed to the Iowa Central Community College Football Program.

Bathke was a starter on a Lions team that advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Iowa High School Playoffs this past season, and a member of 3 Lions playoff teams throughout his career. He helped lead an offense that rushed for 2,424 yards and threw for 1,661 yards, for an average of 340 yards per game. He played both tackle and guard for the Lions throughout the year.

Dillon is projected as an offensive lineman for the Tritons who play in the National Junior College Athletic Association, and are located in Fort Dodge Iowa. They are members of the Iowa Community Colleges Athletic Conference.
