Trio Of Area Players Sign With SMSU In Marshall

Southwest Minnesota State University head football coach Cory Sauter announced Wednesday the signing of 33 high school and junior college student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and football careers at SMSU in Marshall.

Three of those recruits are from the KIWA listening area. A pair of the recruits are Sibley Ocheyedan Generals while the third is a West Lyon Wildcat. 

Grant Greenfield a 6-5, 233 pound offensive lineman is a three-year letter winner, a two-time all-district and two-time all-state honoree.  He is the son of Rob and Lynette DeJong and Glenn Greenfield.

Casey Hertz a 6-2, 195 pound linebacker for the Generals is a three-year letter winner. He was named first team all-district as a senior   recording 99 tackles. Hertz is also and academic all-stater. Casey is the son of Kevin and Marcie Hertz of Ocheyedan. 

Adam Teunissen, a 6-4, 190 pound wide receiver from Alvord will play for the Mustangs. While playing at West Lyon he was a three-time first team all-district performer and named district offensive player of the year. Adam is a two-time all-stater and has been selected to play in 2012 Shrine Bowl. Adam is the son of Dan and Michelle Teunissen.
