Unity Shuts Out Sioux Center

Sheldon, Iowa — The Uunity logonity Christian Knights defeated the Sioux Center Warriors 3-0 in Class 2A District 1 baseball action Saturday afternoon in Sheldon

Unity Christian would jump to a quick 1-0 lead after lead off batter Matt Griffith launched one over the center field wall. Sioux Center pitcher Blake Kamerman and Unity pitcher Griffith would both duel until the 6th inning, where Cole Vande Vegte for Unity Christian would hit a stand up double to left-center, then later steal 3rd, then home to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. Unity would add one more in the 7, and come away with the 3-0 win.

Matthew Griffith got the win for the Knights, giving up just 3 hits and walking 4 while striking out 11 for the complete game shutout.

Blake Kamerman took the loss for the Warriors. Kamerman went the distance giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits while striking out 7.

With the win, Unity improves to 15-14 on the season and will face Hinton Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at Hinton.
