The Nighthawks took the opening drive to the endzone with a healthy dose of power running, all capped off by a Shane Solberg 14 yard touchdown run. Early in the first it was 7-0 Nighthawks. The Tornadoes would respond in kind with their own rushing attack. Josh Werge would run it in from 13 yards out, knotting the score at 7’s midway through the 1st.
BHRV would change QB’s late in the first quarter and Brett Moser and Co. would put nineteen points on the board in the 2nd quarter alone, all coming from Myles Van Maanen. Van Maanen would run two scores in from 17 and 6 yards out, as well as catch one for 17 yards. At halftime it was 26-7 in favor of Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.
The Nighthawks would get on the board again early in the 3rd quarter after forcing a Tornado 3 and out. Van Maanen would once again find the endzone, untouched from 24 yards out. Storm Lake would score midway through the 3rd with a Josh Werge 5 yard TD run, his 2nd of the night. The score was 33-14 after 3.
Midway through the 4th quarter, BHRV would put the game away when Brett Moser found Kobe Lutjens in the endzone on a 19 yard reception, making the score, and your final 40-14.
Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley improves to 5-2 overall, 2-2 in the district and will play host to LeMars next Friday.
Storm Lake falls to 2-5 on the season, 2-3 in the district and heads to Heelan next week.
