Van Maanen Signs With Dordt

Dordt College women’s basketball coach Kyle Lindbergh has announced the commitment of Jordyn Van Maanen to join the program in 2018. She’s the first commit for the Defender women’s program.

Van Maanen, a senior at Sioux Center High School, averaged 11 points per contest and led the Warriors all season with 92 assists in an undefeated regular season run. The point guard helped the Warriors to a runner-up finish at the Iowa Girls State Basketball Tournament. She had 81 steals during the 2016-17 season for the Warriors.

“Not only is Jordyn a great person and great basketball player, but one of her strengths is her will to win and compete. Watching her compete this past volleyball season and in basketball throughout the summer, Jordyn brings a passion for the game that is next level. We are looking forward to having her in a Dordt jersey and believe that she will be a great fit in our program and in the community,” said Lindbergh.

A multi-sport standout, Van Maanen is a setter for the Warriors at the Class 3A State Volleyball Tournament qualifying team and averaged 8.4 assists per set with 2.67 dogs and had 31 ace serves for a Sioux Center team that spent most of the year ranked no. 1 in Class 3A.

Jordyn is the daughter of Denny and Mel Van Maanen of Sioux Center. She plans to study Nursing at Dordt College.
