Village Northwest Unlimited Run Walk and Roll Set For June 6th

vnu run walk rollVillage Northwest Unlimited is hosting the 10th Annual Benefit Run, Walk, and Roll on Saturday June 6, 2015. Whether you run or walk for fun, are a wheelchair operator, or an avid road race competitor, this is an event that will not disappoint. In honor of VNU’s 40th anniversary, the Village is encouraging the community to help us reach the goal of 400 participants. People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join in the fun while supporting people with disabilities. This year’s Key Sponsors include Sanford Health, Sheldon Family Dental Clinic, Freed Family, KT Industries and Siouxland Fabricating, Inc.
The event will again use the services of All Sport Central and their chip timing system which provides fast and accurate finish results. Choose the 5K run, 10K run, or 1 mile walk/roll.  In the 5K and 10K category, medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age group ranging from ages 13 and under to 80 and over. Overall male and female winners in the 5K and 10K run will receive a trophy. All registered participants will receive a specially designed t-shirt made from moisture management fabric.
Lisa Johnson, VNU Director of Development said, “Prior to joining the Village I participated in a number of Run Walk and Roll events. I’ve never been a great runner but I would often get wrapped up in how I would do. While waiting for one race to start, one of the residents was excited, jumping in place. He told me he was going to do his best that day. His words about doing his best still stick with me. No matter your experience level or how fast you are, this event is fun and so uplifting.”
Pre-registration is encouraged before June 1. Packets for 5K and 10K participants, with numbers, t-shirts, chips and maps, should be picked up in the Wansink Center on the grounds of Village Northwest between 4:00pm – 5:30pm on Friday, June 5.  Due to the usage of the ChampionChip® timing system please make every attempt to get your packet on Friday because there will be limited time available for packet pick-up on Saturday morning. Packet pickup on Saturday will be from 6:45am to 7:30am.
