Panthers Following Gold Medal Win

The Panther Basketball team ‘struck gold’ on March 10th in Iowa City at State Special Olympics. At the State Tournament, the first game was against the Link Mavericks. The game came down to the wire with the Panthers edging out the Mavericks 30-28. The second game was against Muscatine and the Panthers came out with a big win 44-10 for the gold medal.

The athletes on the Panther Basketball Team are: Bob Stewart, Scott Wheeler, Mike Kramer, Matt Peterson, John List, Matt Kramer, Charles White, Keith Krumm, Zack Arrick, Tim Steffens, Molly McDonald, Nicole Arens, Dan Lenz, Leah Kass and Abby Paulsen.

The Basketball Skills group scored big inSioux Center for District Special Olympics. Out of 18 athletes, 5 took home a Blue Ribbon and went on to state inIowa City. The athletes involved in Basketball Skills are Katie Boyle, Austin Buurman, Ken Doughty, Darcy Espey, Brad Friedland, Justin Groen, Janet Grooters, LaDel Heiman, Karen Kennedy, Marla Lindley, Stephanie Landhuis, Chris Mennen, Brian Post, Matt Stoll, Teri Vander Hamm,Les Van Engen,Chad Wassenaar, Jessica Webb.

The following athletes participated at state and brought home ribbons: 2nd Place: Les Van Engen, 3rd Place: Stephanie Landhuis, 4th Place: Brian Post, 6th Place: Austin Buurman & Matt Stoll.
