Jacob Vis, a senior at Western Christian High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender basketball program.

Vis scored 18.5 points per game for Western last season and took in nine rebounds per game while converting 71 percent of his field goal tries and 40 percent of his three-point attempts. Vis recorded 52 blocks during the season and was a first-team all-state selection while also garnering all-area honors and all-Lakes Conference accolades.

Vis helped Western to a Class 2A state championship in 2017 and averaged 8.8 points per game while grabbing 5.5 rebounds and he converted 72 percent of his field goals.

“Our program is very excited to have Jacob Vis join our program. Not only is he a tremendous player with fantastic skill, but he fits the Defender Way. He is someone that will enhance our team chemistry and will become a leader in this program by being a great example to others with his tremendous work ethic and unselfish personality,” said Dordt College basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.

Jacob is the son of Brad and Pam Vis of Rock Valley, Iowa. He plans to enter the Pre-Physical Therapy program at Dordt.
