Warriors Fall In Quarterfinals

Top seed MFL MAR-MAC survived a quarterfinal scare from 8th seeded Sioux Center Monday night as they posted the victory 73-72.

The game was close through out as Sioux Center held a 14-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs moved in front 30-27 at halftime. At the end of the third quarter the Bulldog lead was 49-45. in the fourth quarter the Bulldogs were up 70-69 when Sioux Center was assessed a technical foul with :08 seconds left to play.

MFL MAR-MAC made both free throws to lead 72-69. They also got the ball because of the technical foul. Sioux Center fouled on the inbounds and MFL MAR-MAC hit one of two free throws to make it a two-possession lead at 73-69.

With :04 seconds left to play Andrew O’Donnell hit a three pointer to make the final 73-72 in the wildest finish so far at the Boys State Tournament.

Sioux Center was led in scoring by Beau Boer with 15 points. O’Donnell joined him in double figures with 14. TJ Buyert hit for 12 points before fouling out with 2:24 to go in the ballgame.

MFL MAR-MAC had four players in double figures getting a game high 17 points from CJ Mason.

With the win the top seeded Bulldogs improve to 24-1 while the Warriors end the year at 18-7.
