Wedel, Wacker Earn Volleyball Honors

Sioux City, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played September 9-15, 2019. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2019-2020 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week

Attacker – Anna Wedel, Northwestern College (Outside)

Northwestern’s Anna Wedel is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Wedel, a junior, from Orange City, Iowa, averaged 4.7 kills and .475 in wins over #19 Dordt and Mount Marty. Wedel put down a career-high 22 kills to go with 13 digs in her team’s 3-1 win against Dordt. She followed with an 11-kill, eight dig showing against Mount Marty. Wedel has hit for double figures in 13 of 14 matches and has four double-doubles. Northwestern, ranked No.2 in the NAIA, is now 14-0 on the season.

Wedel was also named the NAIA National Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week for her performances last week.

Setter- Lacey Wacker, Northwestern College

Lacey Wacker of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Wacker, a junior from Jackson, Minnesota, led second-ranked Northwestern to a 2-0 record last week in GPAC play. She put up 77 assists, averaging 11 assists per set, in wins over 19th-ranked Dordt and Mount Marty. Wacker directed a Red Raider offense that hit .402 for the week. She also totaled a team-high five aces serves and accounted for six blocks and 1.7 digs per set. Northwestern is 14-0 on the year.
