Western Christian Gym Gets a New Look
Date posted - May 3, 2013
A gymnasium makeover has occurred in the Western Christian High School gymnasium this spring. On April 8th volunteer work crews disassembled the metal bleachers in the lower bowl of the gymnasium. Students assisted by carrying the material out to containers. The scrap metal was sold to a recycling company.
Before new bleachers could be installed the gymnasium floor was sanded for the first time in fifteen years and repainted with court lines, Wolfpack logos, and maroon borders that encase the basketball court. On the end line borders the name Western Christian was painted along with the WC crown logos.
New bleachers were installed on May 1st. There are now 10 rows on the north side lower bowl and 12 rows on the south side lower bowl. All aisles will include railings to assist in reaching all the seating.
There are fewer rows on the north side because players and coaches will now sit on padded chairs. Seating capacity in the gymnasium will drop from 2800 to 2500 but accessibility will be greatly enhanced.
Costs of the makeover were covered by a generous donation to the school.
