Hull Iowa — Western Christian downed North Union 74-46 in a 2A Region 1 semifinal game at the Western Gym Friday night. The Wolfpack will play Rock Valley for a trip to the Girls State Basketball Tournament on Monday night in Rock Rapids. Rock Valley advanced with a 57-42 win over West Lyon Friday night.
Western led at all the breaks. They were up 20-9 after the first quarter and 43-18 at the half as they rolled to the win. Ashtyn Veerbeek had a game high 28 points along with a dozen rebounds. She was joined in double figures by Erika Feenstra with 21. The North Union Warriors had two players in double figures led by freshman Chloe Lofstrom with 13 points followed by Kate Anderson with 12.
With the win Western is 21-2 on the year while North Union finishes at 18-4. Western and Rock Valley meet for the Region title and a State Tournament berth at 7:00 Monday night at the Central Lyon Gym. We’ll bring you the coverage on KIWA FM 105.3 beginning with pregame at 6:45.
