Western Christian to Play for Region Title Monday Night

Western Christian 2Hull Iowa — The top ranked Western Christian girls basketball team used a 7-0 second half run Friday night to open up a game they led 33-22 at halftime. The scoring run was a springboard into a 59-24 lead over Alta Aurelia at the end of the third quarter. The Wolfpack would roll to a 73-39 win. With the win it’s on to the Class 2A Girls Region 1 basketball final Monday night against #13 Lawton Bronson. The Eagles earned a 61-54 home win over West Lyon in the other semi final. The two State ranked teams will get together Monday night at the Sioux City East High School Gym to battle for a berth in the State Tournament.

Western Christian got a game high 16 points from Kaira Moss and 12 each from Erika Feenstra and Karsyn Winterfeld.

Alta Aurelia had three players in double figures as well with Lilly Peterson and Erin Lockin hitting for 11 each and Micah Barnes adding 10.

With the win Western Christian moves to 21-2 on the season while the Warriors end the year at 12-10.
