Western Ousts Orabs, On to Substate

Western ChristianLarchwood, Iowa — Western Christian rolled to the Class 2A District 1 boys basketball Championship with a 80-40 win over the Sheldon Orabs at the West Lyon Gym in Larchwood Tuesday night.

Western Christian’s Jesse Jansma erupted for 15 first quarter points, and by the close of the opening period it was 18-8 Wolfpack. By halftime, Western would extend their lead to 38-19. The 2nd half featured more of the same from Western. At the end of three it was 58-30 Wolfpack and Western would go onto win 80-40.

Western had  3 players in double figures. Jesse Jansma had a game high 23 points, Ben Gesink would drop in 11 points, and Taylor Miedema added 10. Sheldon was lead by Kyle Boerhave with 15 points.

With the win, Western Christian improves to 21-2 on the year. The Orabs finish their year at 11-12.

Western moves onto sub-state Saturday night at the MOC-Floyd Valley Gym at 7:00 pm. They will go against Sioux Center who claimed the District 1 title with a 65-52 win over Rock Valley in a game played at LeMars.
