Wolfpack Wins District Title

The Western Christian Wolfpack Boys Basketball Team earned a berth in the Substate game Saturday at Tyson Event Center in Sioux City as they defeated Sheldon 60-47 for the Class 2A District 3 title.

Western will meet Sioux Center in the Substate matchup as the Warriors knocked off Emmetsburg 44-35 for the District 4 title. Tip off is set for 8pm Saturday night with the winner advancing to the State Tournament.

Western opened a 13-5 first quarter lead over Sheldon and carried that lead to a 26-18 advantage at half time. At the end of thee the lead was 43-32 as the Wolfpack went on to win it 60-47.

Western had four players in double figures led by Mading Thok with 16. Michael Den Herder added 14 with Daniel Van Maanen pumping in 13 and Taylor Feenstra hitting for 10 points.

Sheldon got a game high 23 points from Dallas Ennema. Chris Balster and James Gradert added 8 points each.

With the win Western improves to 15-7 on the year while Sheldon wraps up the season at 12-11 with an appearance in the District Final.
