Several Incidents, Judgments, and Accidents Just Recently Released By Osceola County Sheriff’s Office

Sibley, Iowa —

April 23, 2012, David Patrick Christoffer, age 40 of Harris, Iowa, was found guilty of Interference With Official Acts, and Violation of No Contact Order, both Simple Misdemeanors. The Defendant is to pay a fine of $60, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any. On each offense, the Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of thirty (30) days, with twenty-three (23) suspended, and placed on informal probation to the Osceola County Sheriff for a period of one (1) year. These sentences are imposed concurrently, and a No Contact Order will remain in effect for a period of one (1) year. On March 16, 2012, David Christoffer was arrested for Domestic Abuse Assault and attempted to run from custody. As a condition of his release, the Osceola County Magistrate instructed Christoffer to have no contact with the victim and violated that order shortly after his release.

April 23, 2012, at 9:10pm, Roxanne Ackerman, age 46 of Rock Rapids, Iowa, was driving a 2011 Ford Edge, northbound on Hwy 60, north of 210th Street and struck a deer on the Hwy. Ackerman’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,700 damage. No injuries were reported.

April 21, 2012, at 6:15am, Robert Thompson, age 78 of Sibley, Iowa, was driving a 1999 Ford Windstar, eastbound on 170th Street, east of Tyler Avenue and struck a deer on the Hwy. Thompson’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,700 damage. No injuries were reported.

April 20, 2012, Debra Jeddeloh, age 56 of Sibley, Iowa, pled guilty to Theft 2nd Degree, a Class “D” Felony; and Forgery, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. The Defendant is to pay a fine of $425, the cost of this action, restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, and victim restitution, if any. On the Theft charge, the Defendant is sentenced to the Director of the Iowa Department of Corrections for a term not to exceed five (5) years, with all time suspended and placed on formal probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for a period of three (3) years. On the Forgery charge, the Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of sixty (60) days. From April 2008 through June 2011, Debra Jeddeloh falsified documents and misappropriated funds belonging to a female victim and cashed them.

April 17, 2012, at 1:25pm, Clifford Rud, age 36 of Sibley, Iowa, was driving a 1992 Chevrolet pickup, northbound on Hwy 60, approaching 140th Street. Thomas Engeman was driving a 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, eastbound on 140th Street, attempting to turn northbound on Hwy 60 from the median and did not see Rud’s vehicle approaching and collided on the Hwy. Rud’s vehicle sustained approximately $250 damage. Engeman’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage and was given a citation for Failure to Yield. No injuries were reported.

April 16, 2012, Lindsay Rae Lawler Benishek, age 21 of Germantown, Wisconsin, pled guilty to Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor. The Defendant is to pay a fine of $195, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any. On March 10, 2012, Lindsay Benishek was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a moving violation. Benishek consented to a search of her belongings and an Osceola County Deputy located two (2) containers with green plant residue and had an odor of marijuana.

April 11, 2012, at 1:55pm, Jonathan Acevedo, age 25 of Sibley, Iowa, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup, northbound on 2nd Avenue, north of 11th Street in Sibley, Iowa. Jonathan Schmidt, age 25 of Chandler, Minnesota, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet pickup, northbound on the inside lane of 2nd Avenue, and attempted to make a right turn into a business driveway. Schmidt did not see Acevedo’s vehicle in the inside lane of 2nd Avenue and collided on the roadway. Schmidt’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,700 damage. Acevedo’s vehicle sustained approximately $500 damage and was given a citation for Failure to have a Valid Driver’s License, and Failure to Prove Security against Liability. No injuries were reported.

April 9, 2012, at 1:20pm, Evan Henningsen, age 17 of Sibley, Iowa, was driving a 2007 Ford pickup, southbound on Hwy 60, north of 190th Street and struck a deer on the roadway. Henningsen’s vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 damage. No injuries were reported.

April 9, 2012, at 5:45pm, Michel Fraser, age 51 of Mirabel, Quebec, was driving a 2006 Peterbilt truck and trailer, southbound on Hwy 60, south of 190th Street when a gust of wind caused Fraser to lose control and enter the median where the semi and trailer rolled onto it driver’s side. The left front corner of the trailer tore open on impact, spilling part of its hazardous material load onto Hwy 60. The semi and trailer, owned by Quebec Inc. of Mirabel, Quebec, sustained approximately $135,000 damage. A road sign, owned by the Iowa Department of Transportation, sustained approximately $500 damage. Fraser sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital. Sibley Fire Department, Sibley Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol, and a private hazardous waste cleanup crew assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.

April 9, 2012, Karen Shorey, age 53 of Ocheyedan, Iowa, was arrested for allegedly Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor. The charges stem from a 911 call about a vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the roadway. Shorey was booked into the Osceola County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond.

April 8, 2012, at 12:13pm, Eric Conlan, age 18 of Brewster, Minnesota, was driving a 2002 Hyundai Accent, southbound on Hwy 60, approaching 100th Street in Osceola County, Iowa. David Mooney, age 77 of Hutchinson, Minnesota, was driving a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country van, northbound on Hwy 60 and made a left turn onto 100th Street. Mooney failed to yield before crossing over Hwy 60 and collided with Conlan’s vehicle on the Hwy. Conlan’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 damage. Mooney’s vehicle sustained approximately $15,000 and was given a citation for Failure to Obey Yield Sign. Conlan and Mooney both sustained non-incapacitating injuries and were taken to the Osceola Community Hospital. Sibley Ambulance, Bigelow Fire and Rescue, Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, and Minnesota State Patrol, assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.


Rock Rapids Man Sustains Minor Injuries In Accident Near Orange City

Orange City, Iowa — On April 27, at 3:45 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Indian Avenue, three miles northwest of Orange City Matthew Mulder, age 27, of Rock Rapids was driving a 1989 Ford F150 pickup southbound on Indian Avenue. Mark Mulder, age 25, of Boyden was driving a 2007 Ford F250 pickup northbound on Indian Avenue. Matthew Mulder failed to yield half of the roadway to Mark Mulder, resulting in a collision between the two. Matthew Mulder sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention. Matthew Mulder’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 in damages. Mark Mulder’s vehicle, owned by B&M Concrete of Hull, sustained approximately $7,000 in damages. Matthew Mulder was cited for failing to yield half of the roadway when meeting vehicle, driving while suspended, and no insurance. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.


Sioux Sheriff Seeks Information On Diesel Theft

Orange City, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the public’s help to find out what happened to some missing diesel fuel.

On Wednesday evening (4/25), their department investigated a theft of approximately 650 gallons of agricultural diesel taken from a farm near Maurice.

The diesel was stored in an outbuilding and the theft occurred within the past six weeks prior to April 25.

Sibley Woman To Spend 60 Days In Jail, Serve Suspended Prison Term, Probation After Felony Conviction

Sibley, Iowa — A Sibley woman will spend 60 days in jail, and serve both a suspended prison term and probation after she was found guilty of felony theft and misdemeanor forgery.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that they determined that from April 2008 through June 2011, 56-year-old Debra Jeddeloh of Sibley falsified documents and misappropriated funds belonging to a female victim and cashed them.

Jeddeloh pled guilty to 2nd Degree Theft , a Class “D” Felony; and Forgery, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

She is to pay a fine of $425, court costs, restitution of any court-appointed attorney fees, and any victim restitution. On the Theft charge, Jeddeloh was sentenced to a suspended 5-year prison term and will serve three years’ probation. On the Forgery charge, she was sentenced to 60 days in the Osceola County Jail.


Sioux County Sheriff Deputies Arrest Two In Separate Incidents

(Orange City, Iowa) — An Ireton man has been arrested after he was allegedly found driving when he shouldn’t have been.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 9 PM on Tuesday (4/24), they arrested 26-year-old Kyle Spencer of Ireton for driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Deputies were initially conducting an investigation from a citizen who reported that some people had wrongfully taken some of their property. During the course of the theft investigation, it was found that Spencer had driven to the person’s residence while he was barred from having a driver’s license.


A Hospers woman has been arrested after she allegedly assaulted someone.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:15 PM on Tuesday (4/24), they investigated a report of an assault that occurred at 112 Highland Avenue in Hospers. During the investigation, deputies found that 36-year-old Jessica Van Roekel of Hospers had committed the assault.

There were no serious injuries as a result of the assault and the victim refused medical treatment.

Van Roekel was arrested and charged with simple assault, a simple misdemeanor.


Sheldon Police Arrest One On Drug Charges; Cover Pickup Versus Building Accident

Sheldon, Iowa — In the latest Sheldon Police report,

The police advise that on Monday evening (4/23), they arrested 19-year-old Tyler Hodgins of Sheldon, and charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. He was under the influence when he was arrested. He was taken into custody and transported to jail in Primghar.


A Sheldon man’s pickup was damaged in an accident on Tuesday (4/24) in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 9:10 AM, 80-year-old James Short of Sheldon was eastbound, pulling in to park at the northwest corner of Cook’s Café in a 2001 Ford. The report says Short hit the gas instead of the brake and the pickup struck the northwest corner of the building.

Short’s Ford received $4000 damage, which was probably enough to total the vehicle according to the police report. The Cook’s Café building also sustained about $500 in damage.

There were no injuries.
