Rock Rapids, Iowa — An Inwood woman’s car was damaged in a car-deer accident on Sunday (7/8).
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 11 AM, 20-year-old Kelcy J. Van Beek of Inwood was traveling north on Highway 75 when she struck a deer at the intersection of 200th Street causing $2,000 dollars damage to her 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix.
No injuries were reported.
Brunsville, Iowa — A Brunsville man was injured in a tractor accident last Thursday.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 1:45 PM, they received the report of an injured man that had been working on a tractor.
Emergency personnel discovered that 72-year-old William Renken of Brunsville had been working on his tractor when it unexpectedly lunged forward and ran over him.
Renken was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City by the Le Mars Ambulance.
Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon emergency crews responded to two accidents on Tuesday.
The first call went out about 10:20 AM. It was to a car versus motorcycle accident near Fantasia, just north of Highway 18 on North 18th Avenue. On-scene reports indicate that one individual was transported to Sanford Sheldon by SCAT. The Sheldon Police, SCAT, Sheldon Fire Company and Sheldon Emergency Management responded.
The second call went out about 3:20 Tuesday afternoon. The report was of a minor injury accident at 1317 South Second Avenue in Sheldon. All the emergency services were paged, but Emergency Management and Fire personnel were dismissed while the ambulance stayed on-scene.

Hull, Iowa — Three people fom Akron were injured in an accident in Hull on Monday (7/9).
The Iowa State Patrol Reports that 22-year-old Evan Van Meeteren of Hull was westbound on Highway 18 in Hull in a 1985 GMC Pickup. Twenty-nine-year-old Cory Winterfeld of Sioux Center was northbound on K52 in a 2009 Peterbilt semi, and was stopped for the stop sign for Highway 18 near Casey’s. Twenty-four-year-old Abby Horn of Akron was eastbound on Highway 18 in a 1996 Ford van.
The trooper’s report says Van Meeteren turned left into the path of the eastbound Horn van. They collided, causing Van Meeteren’s vehicle to strike the Winterfeld semi.
Three passengers in the Horn vehicle, Horn herself, 29-year-old Courtney Weiss, and 2-year-old Tysen Horn, all of Akron were transported to the Sioux Center Hospital.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene.
Hospers, Iowa — On Monday, July 9 at 6:15 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred west of Main Street and Hospers Boulevard in Hospers.
Joseph Fischer, age 60, of Rock Valley, IA was driving a 2005 Ford F150 pickup westbound on Main Street when he became distracted by a dropped object and collided with a road closed barricade.
No injuries were reported.
Fischer’s vehicle sustained approximately $500 in damages. The barricade, owned by the Sioux County
Engineer’s Office, sustained $100 in damages.
Hull, Iowa — On Monday, July 9 tat 3:17 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Goldfinch Avenue and 300th Street, five miles northwest of Hull.
Gaylen Schneider, age 49, of Alton, IA was driving a 2009 Dodge Ram owned by Northwest REC southbound on Goldfinch Avenue. David Van Ginkel, age 45, of Rock Valley, IA was driving a 1990 Ford Ranger eastbound on 300th Street.
The two failed to see each other and collided in the intersection.
Schneider was not injured. Van Ginkel reported minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
The Dodge, owned by Northwest Rural Electric Company of Orange City, IA sustained approximately $2,100 in damages. The Ford sustained approximately $2,000 in damages. A portion of a crop field owned by Steve Kooima of Doon, sustained approximately $500 in damages.
Schneider was cited for failure to yield to vehicle on right.
