Ida DeBeer, age 97 of Ellsworth, MN died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Bethel Reformed Church, Little Rock, IA with Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Reformed Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 24th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.


Elaine Ann Haupert

Elaine Ann Haupert, 81, died peacefully at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City, Iowa, on Sunday, October 21, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Spirit Retirement Home, 1701 West 125th St., Sioux City, IA on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 10:30 AM.

Visitation will be anytime after 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton, IA following the service.

Elaine was born on April 9, 1931, to Jacob and Hilda (Pottebaum) Haupert of Alton, Iowa. Elaine spent her early years in Alton, and then moved to the Glenwood State School in Glenwood, Iowa, where she remained until 1955. In 1955, Elaine moved to the Sioux County Home (Hope Haven Residential Care Facility) in Orange City, Iowa. She remained in Orange City until 2009, when she moved to the Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City, IA.

Over the years Elaine enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics, and won numerous ribbons and medals in track and field events as well as basketball and bowling events.

Elaine is survived by four sisters, twin sister Lorraine of Sioux City, IA; Ardelle (Frank) Colabello of Omaha, NE; Judy (Ron) Green of Aurora, CO; Jeanne (David) Chevalier of Webster, MN; three brothers, Dennis (Dianne) Haupert of Soddy Daisy, TN; Dale (Shirley) Haupert of Atlantic, IA; and Jerry (Ruth) of Sioux City, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be sent to Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Harold Dau

93-year old Harold Dau of Sutherland,  passed away Saturday October 20 at Sutherland Care Center,

Funeral service will be held Wednesday morning (October 24th) at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, Rev. Duane Jalas officiating, with burial to follow at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the Warner Funeral Home of Sutherland, which is in charge of the arrangements for 93-year old Harold Dau of Sutherland.

LaVonne Baack

LaVonne Baack, 84, of Le Mars passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m.Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa with Minister Joel Nye and Pastor Sarah Nye officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be after 5:00 Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Tuesday evening at the funeral home.  Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Dolores “Dee” Rieck

Dolores “Dee” Rieck, age 82 of Hartley, IA, passed away at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA on Friday, October 19th.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 1:30 p.m.  at the Hartley Funeral Home Chapel in Hartley with Pastor Len Halvorson officiating.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 22nd at the Hartley Funeral Home Chapel in Hartley from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., with family present 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be at Harrison Township Cemetery near May City, IA.

Rev. Robert A. Thiele

Lake City – Rev. Robert A. Thiele, 86, died Friday, October 19, 2012 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 24th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City with burial in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Lake City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City with a vigil service at 7 p.m.  Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City handling the arrangements.

Rev. Robert A. Thiele was born on December 25, 1925 at Breda, Iowa, the 7th of 8 children born of Frank & Anna (Schulte) Thiele.  He was educated at St. Joseph School in Ashton, IA; Loras College, Dubuque, Creighton University, Omaha and seminary at St. Bernard, Dubuque.  He was ordained on June 4, 1955 at Cathedral in Sioux City by Bishop Mueller and served parishes of St. Joseph & Kuemper in Carroll, Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City, St. Cecelia in Algona, Sacred Heart in Ledyard, OLGC in Moorland, St. Boniface in Charter Oak, St. Mary in Ute, St. Mary in Danbury, & St. Mary in Lake City.  He retired on July 15, 1997.

Survivors include his sister, Irene Richter of Ashton, brother-in-law, Jim Streit of Milford and sister-in-law, Zita Thiele of Sibley.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and six brothers and sisters.
