Area Playoff Teams and RD 1 Opponents

The Iowa High School Athletic Association released what teams are in the High School Playoffs late Friday night. Area automatic bids went to BHRV, Sioux Center, West Lyon, Western, West Sioux, Westwood Sloan, Remsen St. Mary’s and Newell-Fonda. Pairings for the playoffs were released in the 2:00 O’clock hour early Saturday morning.

Sheldon was eliminated from the playoffs after Williamsburg fell to Mount Vernon and took the first Wild Card spot with a margin of 9. Union, La Porte City took the 2nd Wild Card spot with a margin of 8, the same as Sheldon, but through the tie breaker of reverse alphabet starting at the letter “D”, Union claimed the final spot. It was the fifth and final tie breaker in the system.

Orabs Wrap up Regular Season with 61-6 win Over Cherokee

Sheldon Iowa — Brady Prescott ran for 323 yards and scored 6 touchdowns rushing and passed for another Friday night. It all added up to a 61-6 win as the Orabs closed out the regular season at Orab Field. With the win Sheldon finishes the regular season at 7-2 and 5-2 in the District. Cherokee ends at 1-8 for the year and 1-7 in the District.

Sports Scores From Friday October 20th

Northwest Iowa — The final week of the high school football season found a number of playoff spots claimed but a lot of teams still with playoff aspirations. Sheldon played  host to Cherokee as one of those teams with the broadcast on KIWA AM 1550. Boyden Hull Rock Valley had secured the 2A District 1 title last Friday and finished the regular season at home against Central Lyon George Little Rock with the broadcast on KIWA FM 105.3.
