The Department’s numbers have been suspect since the late spring made this a year for the record books. The question is: “What kind of record are we going to set?”
It also brings in a scientific and political question: “Is climate change real and if so, how is it manifesting itself in Midwest agriculture?”
I have known Bryce Anderson since the 1970s. He was then a diligent young farm broadcaster in Missouri who decided to focus on meteorology. In the decades since, he is now at the top of his profession as DTN’s Chief Meteorologist.
We talked about his prediction for the frost date and whether he has seen a change in the climate during the past 40-years.
