School Start Date

Date posted - August 4, 2014

I am wondering why East Elementary is starting two days later. Why don’t we all just wait and all schools start on that Wednesday? This would make it SO much easier for families with mixed ages of children. For many many years we have started on a Wednesday..why change it now? Why segregate the schools? Just wait two more days!!

While it may not be convenient for everyone, I am sure that the administration has very good reason for doing so. These types of decisions are not made on a whim. Decisions like these are carefully considered by hard working individuals who want nothing but the best for your children. It seems everyone is so quick to complain when the school does something they don’t like and so unappreciative of everything that is done every single day to make our public schools great. Stop complaining, be thankful that your child has a great public school district to attend and when you get the chance thank a teacher, administrator, para or coach for everything they do!

Well said Tired. It’s like talking about the weather–people cant do anything constructive or productive, so they run to the nearest forum (2 cents, Facebook, Twitter) and complain.

Maybe the construction has something to do with it.

  3. markerboy says:

I’m not complaining but I just want to know the reasoning

  4. Citizen says:

Yes the weather. Construction, progress. Simple. Deal with two days.

My kids can’t wait to get back into the swing of things! Their mother is ready for them to be out the door too. Me, I’m just glad I live in a country where we get to complain about when education starts. God Bless!

News article dated July 31 on this website gives the reason for the two day delay to the start of the school year. Hopes this answers your question.

I don’t understand why someone is attacked for asking a question? Tired, Ditto and Citizen, if you don’t want anyone to have an opinion other than yours, or you don’t want anyone else to make a comment or ask a question, then say so. To the original inquirer on school start date, I am sure it could make things difficult for those that rely on older siblings to help out with the younger ones but I’m also sure they did what they thought was best. And I’m sorry you got attacked on here.

    • Agreed says:

I agree MamaB, Many times someone just commenting or asking a question gets bombarded with criticism by a select few. I’ve been there myself, and for a time you feel like not commenting ever again. We should be able to speak our mind because I know for a fact there are many people who agree and would like to express themselves on this forum as well , but don’t handle the slams well. I don’t have any kids in the school system and even I wondered why two days would matter. Guess I still wonder!

People being slammed? Simple question, simple answer. Construction…alittle therefore we deal with it. Like it was posted, progress….this time were asking for two days, everything else is on schedule. I bet no one has ever waited to see a doctor or any appointment for that matter, when the appointment says 10:15 am, your there, but are they waiting for you? I dont understand the “slamming” as a few of you speak off.
