Stop Sign

Date posted - August 15, 2014

School will be starting again next week, and I would like to see a 3-Way stop at the corner of 6th St. and 19th Ave., just south of the school. When school lets out, the cars coming from the school parking lot do not have to stop and it can be a long wait for those at the stop signs. It would also slow down the traffic coming from that way, as well. I think it would be a very good safety feature.

This is just a suggestion, not trying to hammer anyone or put your idea down Concerned Citizen, but whenever there is a known area of congestion at a certain time (after school, after a football game, RAGBRAI, 3rd of July, Risefest, etc.) it’s vey easy and convenient in Sheldon to simply avoid the intersection in question. A stop sign at that intersection would be beneficial for kids, especially the younger ones, to let them cross there if necessary after school. Most of the “walkers” are already on the south side of 6th already, aren’t they? Didn’t that intersection use to be set up that way, with a stop going south and thru traffic flowing on 6th?

With school about to start I think we have bigger problems. We have a school that isnt ready. A gym that cant be used for anything. And we are paying for 2 principals. Who is to answer for all of this. I know who I would hold accountable.

Jake, I think you would need to take that discussion to another post, or even better, to a different forum. Maybe instead of a nameless, faceless bomb in an M2C post, try airing your concerns at a school board meeting.
