This is an invasion! If the children crossing our border were true refugees they would have found refuge at the American Embassy in their home country. There are millions of children south of the border suffering neglect, abuse or abandonment. However, we only encourage more human trafficking, sexual abuse and gang recruiting when we allow people to enter and move freely in our country. Our government relief agencies and church social services are already overwhelmed and are on the verge of collapse. We have to act NOW! Hold these people at military bases in this country where special immigration services and courts can process and adjudicate there cases. The vast majority of them are social or economic immigrants who need to be relocated first to camps at military bases in their native countries and, then, to foster care facilities, education programs and adoption services in their native countries (funded through our Foreign Aid). Totalitarian regimes and terriorist groups around the world are persecuting political and religious minorities. The few political and religious refugees seeking refuge need to abandon ties and be adopted into American homes and society (through church and non-profit placement agencies). We need to properly allocate our limited resources.

    The border needs to be closed, period.

    Our children can’t pass through the doors of the public school without being vaccinated, yet tens of thousands of 3rd world illegals are allowed to break federal law and sneak across the border under cover of darkness bringing who knows what pathogens with them.

    Then there is the jobs situation;

There is also, however, illegal entry across the border with Canada, with apprehensions by the Border Patrol of more than 6,000 aliens in 2010. There is also a significant portion of the illegal alien population that arrives with visas and stays illegally. These ‘overstayers’ are estimated variously to between one- third and 40 percent of the illegal alien population.

      They have been doing this for years. Look up the Swift’s turkey plant in Minnesota. They were paying Americans on the line 15.00 with benefits. they were paying undocumented 6.00 an hour with no workman’s comp, no insurance, nothing. INC came in and swooped up all of the undocumented taking the back to the border. Leaving all of these Spanish speaking families stuck in Minnesota in the middle of winter. So Swift took buses back to the border and picked up more undocumented workers. And did anything happen to Swift? No. They didn’t even get a fine. That’s where the trouble needs to start.

        Fox news has been proven to be an “entertainment” site, not a news site. They have added their own touch to a lot of information. I am sure that some of these kids have disease, but I am 61 and I had many of these illnesses, I never got the shot for them.

        These are CHILDREN. Little kids, kids who have been through a rough time. And you don’t care.

          Its not that we are against little children…its much much larger than that. don’t use that excuse that we hate little children if we want the border closed…that will not cut it any more!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a much bigger issue here and YOU know it!!!!!!!!!!! I for one am sick and tired of all the left trying to blame those who want the border closed as people who hate little kids…GET OVER IT!!! There is a much bigger agenda here that mr Obama has. (notice, mr is small letters) they do NOT have refugee status. There is a HUGE difference.

            And MISTER Obama, POTUS, wants additional funds to keep these children fed and warm until they can repatriate them. What do you suggest? Just shove them back over the border and give them a quarter, call someone who cares?

            Oh, this Conservatives hate little kids is fairly new. Because we’ve only had this problem at the border for a short while. If we keep adding to the problem, the Conservatives will then start getting the reputation as haters of children. I don’t want 500,000 kids living in fences in the Southwest, what do you suggest we do? MISTER Obama is trying to repatriate them. Do you have any super suggestions, except for removing the bird seed from the feeder?

          There have been a lot of “entertaining” rulings coming out of the Supreme Court lately, covered by Fox News, that evidently doesn’t qualify as news under your umbrella.

          Because your president and news sources fail to do their job, doesn’t mean it’s not news. A good part of your educated supporters, are getting their “news” from the Daily Show and Colbert Report. They would fall under the category of ill-informed voters that are further dumbed down by the hate mongers.

          We don’t seem to be able to take care of our veterans and elderly, but we never run out of money for the welfare recipients streaming across the border.

          All of the border problems were intentionally brought about by your president, his cabinet, and democratic supporters, so they could force their dream act policies on America thru a crisis. It’s engineered chaos. The only thing preventing closing the border, is incompetence. Most third world countries don’t have any problems snagging an American within 10 feet of their borders.

          Legislation was passed years ago to close the border. Under the direction of the executive branch, Homeland Security can’t fund the Border Patrol to build fences and patrol the border, meanwhile they are outfitting other government agencies and police units across the country with heavy weapons and vehicles, and conducting para-military exercises against our veterans…

          The deny, redirect, blame, and lie machine is alive and well in the White House, but the scandals are taking their toll, and the high courts have taken notice, that the executive branch is out of control.

          You say that Fox News is just “entertainment”. As I write this the headline on Fox News is “Boarder Crisis Hits Home” and tells how people in a San Diego suburb turned three buses full illegal immigrants around and not let them be dropped off in their town. CNN’s headline is “Team USA lost, but won our hearts”. Now, even if you support all of these illegal immigrants here and spreading untreated diseases and living next door to you, taking the government handouts and adding more drain on our economy, you must admit that a soccer headline is on the “entertainment” side of things. What I find “entertaining” is how liberals like to point fingers and call names and say how conservatives are racist and closed minded, but never seem to offer any real solution to a problem. I’m not sure if deep down they see how blinding following and drinking the Kool Aid has not gotten them anywhere, but are just too afraid to admit that they went out and followed an administration and spoke about how great things were going to be, only to see how the lies and deception are hurting this country.

            It doesn’t matter what the headline is… that doesn’t change the credibility of the news source. (CNN is a joke, anyway.) You have to use your brain to decipher what is credible and what is not when you actually read an article or view a source on the topic.

            Fox may be “up to date” on the headlines, but they could still be spewing inaccurate information to pander to their biased audience, no?

    They are not letting them randomly wander around the country. They are placed in fenced areas and watched over by INS agents. But there are too many. Obama is telling them, “Don’t send your children here! ” But some of the Central American countries are becoming so violent, that a thousand mile trip with a coyote seems safer than staying in their home country. They say that more than 75% of all children on these trips are raped. Many of them never show up here. Some are sold into slavery. Would any of us risk our child with a coyote that is illegal and does his job for money and what he can get out of the travellers? They are trying to repatriate them to their countries. If they have family here, the younger ones can be sent to family. But what a mess.

  3. Has anyone heard about the guy with the bird feeder? He put up a feeder to help the birds by feeding them. The more he fed them, the more birds showed up, leaving more and more mess, and more and more noise as the feed ran out. He finally figured out the only way to end the problem of freeloading and noisy birds was to take the feeder down. Maybe it’s time the US takes down their feeders.

      I’m very glad I read this last comment, because you put it more politely than I was going to be. I almost began my comment by saying SORRY. Why should I be sorry? My wife and I work long and hard hours, as do many Americans, we have seen so many illegal people in the places where we work that it’s scary. Yes, I understand wanting to come here for employment and to help your family, but when you see how much they make and how much is NOT taken out for taxes, it downright makes me mad. The system is wrong on many points, but is ignoring the obvious really the way to go?

        Where is the outcry for the employers who hire the undocumented immigrants and don’t pay their fair share of taxes, either? They are just as much to blame as the undocumented immigrants. The undocumented immigrants DO pay taxes, a multitude of them, and will never receive the benefits they pay into (I know, they don’t deserve it, they are scum…NOT) which is wrong.

        I agree, the whole situation is complicated and difficult to solve, but there are multiple parties to blame for the current situation — including the wealthy business owners who take advantage of these modern day slaves (oh, wait, that’s not true…).

    Tim, really? So your counterargument is to bring up a MSNBC article to compare to Fox News? It looks like you are dabbling in the same dead end argument that you think Lee Ann was promoting. All news sources have a bias. Your job as the consumer of news is to dissect, analyze, and substantiate the facts from fiction. If you don’t do that then your argument weakens.

    Anyway, what do you suggest the President’s administration does that hasn’t already been done? First of all, the administration has made a request to Congress for $2 billion in emergency funds in order to stem the influx on child immigration, which includes stepping up deportation efforts and sending more immigration judges to South Texas.

    Second, the Obama administration is following the procedure per the 2002 (and updated in 2008) human trafficking law — “Under a 2002 human trafficking law signed by former President George Bush and reauthorized again in 2008 with additional protections, Mexican unaccompanied children apprehended crossing the border are automatically returned without formal deportation proceedings because the two countries share a border. But unaccompanied children from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala cannot be sent back without going through the deportation process, since that law ensured that America wouldn’t send kids back to a dangerous situation.” (Think Progress)

    Third, quit with the party-line politics. We are talking about human beings, and very young human beings at that. Young human beings that have their whole life ahead of them. You have no idea what their lives are like or what their story is as they try to survive. I’m sure your childhood was pretty carefree like the rest of us… no? In any case, it doesn’t hurt to have compassion, yet be firm in how the undocumented children are apprehended, processed, and deported. My goodness, a good christian (presumably) fellow like yourself certainly has compassion for victims of unfortunate circumstance, no?

    And to all — how about we stop calling it an INVASION like we’re truly threatened (we’re not, as this is quite possibly the latest thing to be sensationalized by ALL media sources) and support our leaders as they try to solve this issue. My only hope is that Congress does the right thing to solve this issue and not try to make it into party politics and block any attempt by the Obama administration to solve this issue then blame him for not trying to do anything. I’m hopeful that won’t happen, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did happen.

    So Free Man, Dug, Doug, Tim and IM Disgusted all have righteous indignation. But none of you have said what could be done to prevent this. This administration has deported more undocumented workers than the several presidents before him. These children are not running away and hiding from INS, they are running toward them, “Take me in, please take me in.”

    Other than close the border, which is not the problem in this situation, what steps do you think we should take? Send them home? That’s what they are doing. Monitor their health before sending them anywhere? That’s what they are doing. Send them to GITMO. They haven’t done that yet.

    So let’s have your great ideas. And remember that everything you do will be watched over by the news media and the citizens. And regardless of what you do, half of the people will not like what you are doing. And the other half will think you are not doing enough. And you have to watch and ensure that you are not breaking any laws, and that you find the money to do what you want to do. And remember that no matter what you do, these are children. And there are ad agencies out there that can make them look like, “….for the price of a cup of coffee this child will live.” I would hate to be a politician these days.

    Whether your solution is to set them out in rat infested boats and use them for target practice, remember these are children. Americans don’t care if they are Guatemalan children, Belize children or German children. No matter what you do, somebody is going to be mad.

      Here is a thought- we invade every other country in which there is mass inequalities. Send our troops south.
      At which point to we sacrifice our lives to the influx of illegals? When they take our jobs? Thats already happened. When they make us start to change our laws and lives to make things easier for them? Thats already happened too. So do we roll over and just let them take over?
      Sending the children is genius on their part- the US is humanitiarians- they take advantage of that. We not only take care of thier kids, but now they become US citizens, reaping our benefits, incorporating into our social systems and in the future take over our government. If they “invaded” as adults, it would be a completely different scenario with a much different outcome.
      So ask yourself, who is playing who here? And why are you so willing to fall for it?

        Not a solution or an idea. What do you want to do? These children are not taking American jobs, they don’t work, they are leaving the violence and the gangs of Guatemala etc. Let’s take pictures of America troops pushing these small children back out into the desert to die? And put them on the six o’clock news.

        Nobody is happy about this. We need some kind of a solution to fix this. My only solution is to do what we are doing now. Check their health, vaccinate them, give them some food and shelter, and repatriate them to their own country when we can. That costs money. Congress doesn’t want to pay any money for this. But it has to be done.

        Any solutions being thought up that are not distasteful to most Americans , and most parents of any children? You guys can sure complain, got any solutions to this? I can tell you are Republicans. You can complain and complain, but don’t have any ideas how to fix anything.

      Close the border, period. That is the first statement from my first response. That is my legal, lawful plan that follows established federal law.

      This situation was created by the administration for the passage of the dream act and the fundamental transformation of this country. It was a brilliant stroke of genius as strategy goes just for the fact that the proponents of illegal immigration can scream from the rooftops that those who oppose hate children.

      Close the border for real and the flow of illegals will stop.

        Fundamentally change this country? In what way? Oh, you mean everybody would be a little browner? Why would anyone intentionally do that? What are your belief systems that tell you the black man in the white house wants to make this country a browner country so they would all vote for his agenda after he’s out of office, living in Hawaii? What has Obama tried to pass that wouldn’t help this country? Jobs bills, budgets, infrastructure bills, keeping this country solvent, I think he’s done an excellent job of stemming the tide of crap being pushed around.

        And no I’m not using the race card, so put that one back in your pocket. Everybody wants to “take this country back to the way it USED to be.” Back in the 50s and 60s when every man had a job and all the freedom he wanted. Which is not so true as the 50s and 60s were a time of great bills passed for the good of the American people, such as medicare, social security, WIC, school lunches, TANIF, medicaid, home heating help, etc. And passed by both parties.

        I’ve been in this thread a lot. This obviously strikes a chord with me. If all the undocumented went back south today. Never to be seen again, you all think we’d have great jobs just hanging on the jobs tree waiting or us? Did all of these undocumented have great skill jobs? No, they had manual labor jobs, caring for children, caring for the elderly in home health, picking peppers and tomatoes, etc. and lots of manual labor jobs, shovelling dirt, etc. This country would flounder simply because we don’t have people willing to do these manual labor jobs every day. They don’t want a dirty job, they want a cleaner job, better pay, they deserve it because we are Americans. If nobody was willing to do these jobs, our country would be in a world of hurt. If all 14 million undocumented were given the right to work in this country today, our GDP would go up over 1.5% immediately. They would be paying taxes, paying for insurance, not using charity at hospital ERs. and they would be good people to have here. I grew up in Colorado. The town I lived in is 68% Spanish speaking third and sometimes fourth generation Americans. They are wonderful people. If you would choose to meet one. You would like their quiet, unassuming ways. Instead you all have to have a boogey man to blame all your stuff on. Hispanic people are not taking your jobs. They can’t get your jobs. They do the pepper picking and tomato picking and the hog clean outs. They are not the boogey man.

        Your idea won’t work. We don’t have the resources to close the MASSIVE border, the manpower to enforce it, nor would it be economically smart to do it.

        Better hit the books and do your homework. This situation was not created by the DREAM Act. There are a multitude of factors and while you might claim that is the sole reason, it would be nearly impossible to substantiate that claim.

      First of all, again you make it sound like anyone wanting to make those coming to our country legally, a horrible person. Yes you may not like my solution. I say as other countries do, when you enter our country you are registered, if you want to become a citizen, great, do it. Why don’t those coming from the south want citizenship??? We can patrol huge portions of other countries and are quite successful, why not our own. One of my Hispanic friends put it this way to me, “We are taking over your country, one child at a time, and we will succeed, there is nothing you can do to stop us”. Now is that call for ‘righteous indignation” as you call our concern, perhaps. You want a direct solution, maybe it will work or it won’t, as each “refugee” comes across the border, make them go thru the legal channels, if they don’t like that, yes ship them back. (OMG LeeAnn, who do you think we are to suggest we send them out in boats and use them for target practice, WOW I am a horrible person, MY GOSH)
      There are a couple things going on here as I see it.
      First, we get no help from the Mexican gov’t. They actually want them out. One of our citizens accidently crosses the border, bam they are locked up in prison without hope to get out, or worst case, they are shot. (Should we treat those crossing into the US the same?)
      Second, those crossing over, KNOW they can get away with it, ESPECIALLY if they use kids as the shield to do it. Why? B/C they know that we as a country will have sympathy for kids. However, perhaps that card has been dealt too many times and is no longer usable.
      And third, and my Obama supporting friends will so strongly disagree, but whatever. They don’t really care about what repercussions come with immigrants entering the US. To the dems, they are votes!!!!

If you would honestly take time to meet one and lose your preconceived ideas about good and bad people, you could learn something important. NW Iowa is not the whole world.

      Righteous indignation? You should talk. Where does it say in the constitution that we the American people are responsible for the well-being of citizens of another country? Where does it say that birth or stepping your foot on American soil, makes you a citizen? These are sacrificial kids sent by the parents in hopes of following them after they are anchored.

      You asked what could have be done to prevent this. Why don’t you ask your potus, why they were advertising jobs 6+ months ago for employees who would be carting the illegals to various destinations across the country. The administration knew they were coming, and did nothing. If they had been turning these people back a year ago, it would not have reached critical mass. Border states have been begging for help for years. Does your potus do his job and enforce the border? No. He has his legal team sue the states for trying to protect the border themselves. Does he reinforce the state’s efforts with INS, Border Patrol, or Homeland Security initiatives? No. He is a divider.

      This country has the resources and the capability to seal that border. Don’t try to tell me that the country that built such projects as the Hoover Dam, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Alaska Pipeline, and the Empire State Building in 13 months can’t do it. Israel is doing it, and the United States can too.

      Just like the president, you are using this subject to divide, demonize, and classify the people who want our borders secure.

        Yes i think they should register here. what do you think they are doing in the camps the get a check up register with INS and the move to other parts of the country. I find this topic very personal so its hard to put my ander into words they will publish here. I dont think it should matter that we are talking about kids or not. Yes they life back home is worse than you think. and yes there are some that have a desent life back home. When you have this meny people you will have some both ends of the spectrum. Im not saying they(any illigal and yes they are illigal) should get a free pass into or country. But there needs to be a easyer way. Have any of you tried to legal import someone it cost alot and takes forever.

        Okay, Doug. What’s your solution? Could you do anything that’s not being done already? Remember we have laws against just refusing to help them, we can’t just send them back into the desert, again, laws. Obama is following the laws passed in 2001 and 2008. They aren’t afraid of INS because they believe INS is there to help them. They don’t hide from them, they LOOK for them.

        I don’t want them here either. They should never have come. But the gangs and violence in their country and the coyotes hoping to take advantage of children have spread the rumors about coming here and being safe. So we have to do something, what’s your solution?

          Let me start off by thanking you, for looking to me to fix this. Evidently, the Pen And Phone at the White House doesn’t know where to begin since he is waiting for ideas to come to him at the end of the summer.

          And to clarify that you originally stated “none of you have said what could be done to prevent this”. You did not respond to my statement that the administration is largely responsible for this problem. Their failing to stop illegals, and lying about their performance of doing such, emboldened this surge of illegals.

          Now lets get to the statement “Other than close the border, which is not the problem in this situation, what steps do you think we should take?” You are in some serious denial if you think this influx of people is going to stop without the action of closing that border.

          The loopholes in the Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein sponsored & overwhelmingly Democratic co-sponsored Unaccompanied Alien Child Protection Act of 2007 law passed during the Bush presidency have complicated this process. In spite of the fact that the law was never designed to handle the load of thousands and thousands of illegals coming to this country, this administration is using it as there excuse NOT to fast-track deportation of illegal children. Que Eric Holder to ignore enforcing this law (sarcasm).

          The fastest way to end this, is to:
          1. Start deporting them immediately.
          2. Cut off all aid to the countries that refuse to accept their people back.
          3. End the birthright citizenship.
          4. Stop lying and close the border.

          When the financiers in the Central American countries see they are wasting money paying for transport to a closed destination, it will stop.

          For all of the issues you claim to not heard of, your only link to news, must be the White House because just like them, you are seeing it here for the first time.

            dose that mean my children born overseas while I’m in the military are no longer citizens. You better be joking. How much will it cost to close the border. If we end all aid to these countrys what will happen to our neighbors, would they want to come here even more. How will you deport them right away, or will you give them an immigration hearing first. We need details. Re-derrick is easy to say not so easy to implement now is it

    Who decides who deserves what in this world? If the people who have the most material goods are the most “deserving” because they are the smartest and most resourceful, then Donald Trump must be among the best human beings on the planet. Do you begin to see how twisted this rationale is? America is supposed to be a Christian nation. Northwest Iowa is supposed to be a Christian area. Real Christianity (based on the life and teachings of Christ) is about compassion, mercy, kindness, forgiveness (70 x 7), sharing, generosity, long-suffering, loyalty, love, community, concern for others, patience, humility, truth, and wisdom, regardless of our personal decisions on who “deserves” it. Because guess what? We are ALL sinners. Every single one of us. If we all got what we deserved, we’d all be going to hell. But because of what Jesus did for us, if we accept Him, if we are true followers of Christ, we get to go to heaven. And as true followers of Christ, we are supposed to be concerned for the vulnerable, for the least. So, let’s get off our high horses and take care of these little ones. Let’s do the right thing; quit being paranoid and leave the results up to God. (If it’s the end of the world, so be it. I know where I’m going.)

    As many of you posting do, I also feel very angry, but in a different way. How dare we judge and shake our fist at others from our comfort zone. Most of us have a home to live in, have safety, and have food to eat. Yes, life is very unfair and at times it is difficult to pay bills and we don’t get every pleasure we feel we deserve.
    If you have the chance to read todays “Mail-Sun,” there is a terrific article in there about how the Methodist Church here in Sheldon has noon meals for children. As Christians should, the volunteers don’t judge the children who come in. They simply serve them a meal.
    There is nothing I can personally or physically do about the illegal immigrants coming across the border. I am a Christian. I prefer to spend my time praying for others instead of complaining about them. And I will also help others in my community by donating to that meals program at the Methodist Church. I hope my actions in this way will be an example to all who read “My 2 Cents Worth.”

I am grateful that my children were raised in a diverse area – not a prejudice bone in their bodies. Sorry folks I hate to break it to you but there is life outside NW Iowa. This program was a dream of JFK and enacted by Ike. The program is constructed for low income and special needs children. Many illegal alien’s children get into the program by false information, parents work under assumed names or don’t report their income at all! THIS IS taking away from children who as American citizens deserve this tax funded program!

          The deportations right now are higher than they have ever been. The problem with these children is not that they are sneaking across the border, they are walking right up to INS agents asking for help. They aren’t sneaking across and going to hide out. They feel safer because after this thousand mile trip, that has untold dangers, they finally see an INS agent. This is different than a Mexican man sneaking through the border, going to another state and trying to fit in and work . These kids are relieved to see INS. so the problem here is NOT with closing the border (too expensive, can’t do it), or the amount of deportations (high). Its children wanting to be turned in to INS for safety.

          So what do we do with these children? What is legal and right to do? The only good option is doing what we are doing now. Give them health assessents, vaccinate, hold them, then send them back home.

          They are not trying to take over this country, one child at a time. They don’t want to turn this into hispanic united states. SMH, you guys for real?

          The only solution, and its not that great, is what we are doing now. Our President is actually doing the only legal safe option we have.

        I have an idea; all those in favor of this massive influx of illegals should put their money and time where their mouths are and open up there homes to these new arrivals. You should be happy to care for and pay for these little angels, as it is the compassionate thing to do. No government help or subsidies for their care, everything comes out of your pockets. Show us how compassionate you are, come on, I know you can do it. If you don’t do it I will take it that you are racist and hate brown children.

The V.A. is a disaster, The IRS has targeted people for their free speech, not to mention the criminal destruction of evidence of e-mails that would implicate the white house in that targeting.       Google can be a wonderful thing. This is the fifth straight month of more new jobs over 250,000. The economy is beginning to grow. We need to kickstart it by promoting a lot of infrastructure projects (yes, sometimes we have to spend money to get it moving).

      The Presidency in this country is a strange thing. We always think he has such power and control. And in reality, he can only sign or veto bills approved by Congress. When Congress does nothing, he can only sit there with a pen and wait. He can jump up and down and scream, but he cannot do much at all without Congress.

            If we had a demand for more low skilled labor the corporations would have to raise their wages to get the workers in the door. As it is now with the over supply they can set the wages as low as possible and still get workers to sign on.

            Wages are set by supply and demand, just as it is set with any commodity. Scarcity makes things cost more, labor included. Flood the market with cheap labor (Illegal Immigrants) and the cost is driven down to the delight of Big Business and the US Chamber of Commerce. Create a smaller pool of the low skilled and the wages will go up to the delight of the employed workers.

            It’s simple really.

As a part of his scheme he said he was suspending the law for minors crossing our border, and would not deport them. He knows that if he can get millions new latino voters in this country that most of those will vote democrat. That is really what this is all about.             Obama never said that these kids could stay. He has said “Don’t let them come here. They cannot stay.” They do have to process these kids before sending them back to their country.

            As for a fence, a TRILLION dollar fence? Even McCain says we cannot afford to do that. Obama has increased the number of agents on the borders in the last 6 years they do send Mexican nationals back to Mexico. In fact a lot of the Hispanics are not happy with him because he does send them all back. We are deporting more than we ever had.
            Okay, back to the kids. Leave the fence problem alone. Those kids coming in don’t care. They want to turn themselves in for safety. The fence situation just gets them found easier. What would you do with all these kids?

      Have faith Free Man, it’s going to get better. The president requested 3.7 billion doll-hairs to help manage the border blip today. He’s not going to expedite any deportations however.

      Wondering how much border fence 3.7 billion dollars would buy, I found that Homeland Security Secretary 2005-2009 Michael Chertoff said a 2000 mile wall estimated to cost between 4 and 8 billion dollars would cost too much. It’s looking pretty cheap as of now.

      I find fault with the bleeding hearts proclaiming that these “children” have a right to a hearing, and due process, and all of the other rights granted to refugees, however, these exceptions have not been granted to Mexican illegal children who for years have been immediately deported when entering the US. And you cry not for them…

      For TM, if you are still searching for the definition to “Dougs imergration reform”, Free Man’s citizenship explanation in the comment immediately following this post explains the term I used “anchor babies” which are not guaranteed citizenship in the constitution.

    The report, identified as “De-Classified” and “Law Enforcement Sensitive,” reveals the fact that only 0.1 percent of the Central American minors illegally entering the U.S. having been deported in Fiscal Year 2013, down from two percent prior, plays a significant role in why the current border crisis is occurring. The DHS-ICE agency report admits the fact that 98 percent are allowed to stay is a significant draw for the minors to come into the United States. The agency acknowledges that conditions in Central America play a role in why the wave is occurring, but directly contradicts the assertion that such conditions are the only significant reason the crisis exists. The report directly contradicts any assertion U.S. government refusals to deport illegal immigrants is not a significant factor in why the crisis is occurring.

    This just keeps getting worse every day. Only .1% (that’s point 1%, which means only 1 in 1000) of the illegal aliens have been returned to their home countries. This is beyond pathetic and encourages others to sneak over the border since it is practically guaranteed they can stay here and get signed up for all the freebies that get thrown around like candy from a parade float.

    Its been proven by economists on both sides of the aisle, that if we took all of those undocumented aliens and sent them back home, our country would slide into another recession. There are too many menial jobs and not enough people to do them. People to care for our children and our elderly. fruit and veggie pickers, etc. I would like to see the agriculture undocumented get season passes to work in agriculture. Because face it, our youth are not going to detassel corn or walk beans anymore. We’d rather use roundup. (ironic haha).

    If all these undocumented were made legal documented aliens, our GDP would increase by 1.5%. If we could cover them for health care with the ACA, our medical costs would decrease.

    People from Mexico throughout history have come across the border to work and shop. It was no big deal. But these “Invading people” are still children. their parents risk their safety getting them out of Guatemala and Honduras because its so dangerous there.

    I don’t care how mean and hard hearted someone is, these are children! If you can’t open your heart to refugee children, your heart is indeed pretty darn cold.

      If all the illegals were sent home the wages for those “menial” jobs would increase and they would be filled by legal, lawful residents of the US who would be happy with the pay raise and a job. Those unhappy with the illegals being sent home would be the large corporations and the US Chamber of Commerce who love to see the pay scale driven down by the flood of illegal workers.

      I have yet to see any verifiable documentation of the GDP going up 1.5% if the hordes of illegals were made legal, and if it did I would assume it would all go to the top 1% because of the over supply of cheap unskilled labor. I also assure you that if these illegals were put on Obamacare they would all qualify for the biggest federally paid subsidies and there would be masses of “Children” sucking from it until they turn 27 years old.

      I miss the days when the United States ran on the rule of law, instead of the rule of feelings. That’s the thing about a Constitutional Republic (which we are supposed to be), it is governed by laws and not based on perceptions or feelings. It is not hard hearted, hateful or racist, but simply following the rules and laws that have been instituted for the greater good and the continued success of the country. Break those rules for whatever reason and you will invite unintended consequences that are detrimental to the country, some of which are manifesting and in plain view already.

        Your sources are clearly one-sided so why shouldn’t they come into question? Do you cross-reference your sources, Free Man? I’m all for a source if it is cross-referenced and doesn’t have a clear bias/spin on the story. A report conducted by a government agency isn’t necessarily biased if the data they are using is presented to inform the general public.

          You are more than welcome to read the links and comment on or refute what they contain, along with my own personal opinions that I post here. This is after all a forum to express your opinions and exchange ideas on topics of the day. I read the links that others provide along with their opinions, and if I disagree I will refute them to the best of my ability with my own thoughts and ideas, and maybe even links to other sources. I will not call attention to the source (I may have a time or two in the past as a means of turnabout being fair play) as if it is full of holes and spin it is pretty easy to refute with logic, common sense and truth. As for cross referencing, not gonna happen. This is an opinion forum and we are not writing a College Thesis.

          In my opinion attacking a source instead of refuting what it contains is intellectually lazy, and does not add to the discussion.

I am challenging you to think about what the biased source you are using is telling you and why it might not give you the entire picture. I contend it is intellectually lazy, as you put it, to cite a source that only cites it’s own news source when trying to make claims about the current situation. That is intellectually lazy, Free Man, wouldn’t you agree?

            I have no problem with you sharing your opinion on the two cents page, after all. You are right, you can share whatever you’d like, but that also means I can challenge your one-sided sources all I’d like as well because your claims are quite weak when I consider the sources you use.

            This issue goes beyond the POTUS and as we’re starting to see, perhaps our do-nothing Congress will start to do something to help solve this complex problem that will not be solved with intellectually lazy people only saying “THEY’RE ILLEGAL ALIENS” and do nothing but continuously share that sentiment. It’s ineffective and unproductive.

    Please make sure to read the last couple of sentences again. The President’s Commission of Migratory Labor found that the cotton growers in Texas were paying half the wages that were found elsewhere in Texas. This is what illegal, mass migration does to wages.

    While the Bush-era legislation is taking the heat for this crisis, the TRUE cause is this obama executive order in which president Obama announced on June 15, 2012, that the U.S. Dept. Homeland Security would not deport certain DREAM Act–eligible undocumented youth. Under a directive from the secretary of DHS, these youth will be given temporary relief called “deferred action.” Essentially, an open invitation to load the buses.

    Once again trying to force his own personal agenda upon the citizens of America with his pen, the rest of us working Americans bear the cost. Now he wants more money to undo his screw-up, when there is money already in his budget he has not been using.

      I saw a news clip last night, I believe on CNN, where they sent a reporter down to Guatemala with a film crew to follow some of these “Dreamers” on their journey. The vast majority (I have heard it is around 80%) were teenage boys that looked to be between 15 and 18 years old. Any real children seen in the clip were accompanied by an adult. When asked why they were making the trip they all claimed it was because of the lack of jobs at home, and they heard jobs are easy to get in the US.

      They showed the Coyotes being paid, the “Dreamers” sneaking into Mexico in broad daylight by rafts, and to top it off the group that was being filmed were stopped by Mexican police (They were in a packed van driving north through Mexico) , searched and then money was given to the Mexican police before they were released to continue on.

      This is being allowed to happen, and in my opinion starts with the Obama administration and flows all the way down to the government of Guatemala. I also question why Congressmen have been denied access to the camps, and why no film crews are allowed to photograph these dreamers. Could it be because they are for the most part teenage men and if the American public could see this the narrative of “It’s for the children” would be over?

Just because I keep reading about the illegal residents(is that considered an oxymoron?)that have been arrested for numerous violent crimes even after they had been deported before. hmmmmm, why? But then we revert back to the poor little children that are coming into our country, that by the way Our SUPER SMART Prez wants to have 3.7 Billion dollars to help them. I have a cousin that left her husband, she is full blooded AMERICAN, with 2 little girls, she scraped together as much money as she could to drive a clunker of a car to Sioux Falls and she can’t get into a mission or anything…she is staying with one of her aquantances for a few days, but she is not getting any help from ANY AGENCIES. When she texted me from her friends phone, she said it’s scary because she doesn’t know if she will have to live in her car with the girls and because she is of the CAUCASIAN decent, she doesn’t get any respect. Sad, very sad…HELP OUR OWN PEOPLE FIRST DANG IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
