Trails Committee And NITWITS Host Bike Ride

Sheldon, Iowa — If you’re a bicyclist, there’s an event coming up this weekend that’s just for you. A bike ride is planned for this Saturday in Sheldon. It’s completely free, and basically just for fun and awareness of the trails system.

Pete Hamill of Sheldon is one of those responsible for planning the ride. He tells us how the idea got started.

Hamill says he volunteered to host the first ride — in Sheldon. He says Sheldon used to have a bike club, and the bike ride on the trails gave him the idea to see if there might be interest in a bike club again.

He says if you’d like to join, you can look for NITWITS Bike Club on Facebook.

He tells us about Saturday’s ride, which he says is for anyone, not just RAGBRAI types.

Hamill encourages those who are interested to check out the NITWITS Facebook page or call him at 712-348-0963.

Again, Saturday’s event is a recreational bike ride around the city of Sheldon on the “rec trails” beginning at 10 AM in the parking lot of the Lifelong Learning & Recreation Center at Northwest Iowa Community College.
