Farmers Average About 12 Cents Income On The Thanksgiving Dollar

IABRN — The holidays are right around the corner. Except for those stores that put up Christmas stuff on July 5th. Thanksgiving is next week. As we sit down to the feast, we often take the time to give thanks for everything we have. We also give thanks for the preparer of the feast and to those who made it possible, including the American farmer. After years of depressed prices, farmers are definitely in need of prayer.

The National Farmers Union just released its latest figures which show the average farmer sees about 12 cents on the dollar for the food provided at a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. NFU President Roger Johnson says the major integrators who control the poultry market suppress the earnings of poultry growers while they earn record profits.
