Pasque Flower Hike POSTPONED Until April 15th

Sutherland, Iowa — The wintery weather is changing all kinds of plans from golf meets to track meets and other outdoor activities. One of those is a Pasque Flower Hike, which was supposed to have been this weekend.

Charlene Elyea from the Prairie Heritage Center talked to Wayne and Aaron this week. She says sometimes the weather interferes with our plans, but it’s all good.

She tells us about the pasque flower, and it’s long history with people who have lived here.

She says that they are postponing the Pasque Flower Hike for one week. Elyea says she will lead the Pasque Flower Hike on Sunday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. She invites you to enjoy an afternoon walk along the hillside and imagine what the landscape once looked like.

Those who want to go on the hike are to meet at the Waterman Prairie on Wilson Avenue. From Highway 10, turn south on Wilson Avenue and follow the road around the curve, over the bridge and straight up the hill. The parking lot will be on the east side of the road.

For more information, you can contact the Prairie Heritage Center at 712-295-7200.
