SUMMARY:Community Blood Bank Blood Drive in Rock Rapids
DESCRIPTION:Central Lyon High School and Community Blood Bank are hosting a community blood drives on Wednesday\, April 17 from 7:30 am to 11:00 am and 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids. \n“With the warming of the weather\, it is hard to think about the poor weather conditions we had a few weeks ago\, during this time we experienced over a dozen blood drive cancellations\, which placed the local blood supply at very low levels\, with less than a 72 hours supply available for some blood types.  These many cancellations reduced the overall collections by 42%.  Our hope is to see a strong showing from the community through blood donation at this blood drive\,” states Ken Versteeg\, Executive Director\, Community Blood Bank. “Volunteers coming forward to donate blood is the only way to secure the blood supply for Rock Rapids.  Giving blood with Community Blood Bank will directly impact the lives of patients in need in Rock Rapids.  Community Blood Bank is the only local blood source and is not associated with other blood bank entities.” \nDonors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form)\, weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health.  It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating blood.  Please bring an ID with you at the time of donation.  For more information log onto www.cbblifeblood.org\, or call Community Blood Bank at 1-877-877-3070. \nCommunity Blood Bank is not affiliated with other blood bank organizations and takes pride in being a self-sufficient organization\, thanks to the generosity of our local blood donors.

SUMMARY:O'Brien County Conservation Extraordinary Easter Egg Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Easter is just around the corner\, and the O’Brien County Conservation Board will again be holding an egg hunt with a technological twist. The event returns to the activity lineup due to the tremendous past success.  Join the naturalist on Wednesday\, April 17 at 5:30 p.m. for a “Different Kind of Egg Hunt.” \nThis year the event will be held at Mill Creek Park\, near Paullina.  Meet near the lodge.  Participants will be given instructions on how to use a GPS unit.  Then they will set out to search the area for hidden eggs using GPS coordinates and handheld GPS units.  This scavenger hunt is sure to provide a surprise or two as some eggs may be a bit difficult to spot!  The program is free and open to all.  Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
