SUMMARY:Knights of Columbus Spelling Bee
DESCRIPTION:Who: Students in grades 4 through 7. \n\nParticipants will be competing against students from Sheldon area schools.\nStudents can get registration forms from Mr. Gude prior to the day of the event.  \nPre-registration will also take place that morning at 9:00 am.  \n\nWhat: Each participant will spell as many words correctly as possible. \n\nStudents can get lists of words to spell from Mr. Gude.\nAt that time participants will be checked in\, assigned a contestant number\, and directed to a competition room. \nThe competition for each grade level will generally last for 30 minutes or less.\nAs each speller is eliminated\, each contestant and audience member are asked to remain in the competition room until the winner has been decided.    \n\nWhen: Saturday\, January 29\, 2022 at 9:30 am.    \nWhere: Wansink Center on the Village Northwest Unlimited Campus \nAnd…? Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each age level.  \n\nAll participants will receive a certificate for participation.\nThe top 2 finishers will also move on to regional competition\nParticipants will also have an opportunity to win other prizes.

DESCRIPTION:Ice Fishing Clinic- Big Sioux Recreation Area near Hawarden \n10 AM – Noon \nWhether you love ice fishing or interested in learning more about it\, join us on the ice at the Big Sioux Rec Area\, just west of Hawarden. Bring a sack lunch or snacks and a bucket to sit on and we will provide the rest! We will pre-drill the holes\, provide bait\, poles and discuss the types of fish you may catch and equipment being used. There is no cost for this event\, entry fee to the park is waved during the time of the program. Those age 16 and over actively fishing must have a valid Iowa fishing license. Preregistration appreciated.

DESCRIPTION:Who:         Boys and girls who are 9-14 by January 1\, 2022\, are eligible. \nWhat:        Each participant will get 3 warm-up shots\, followed by shooting 15 free throws during the competition. \n\nBoys and girls\, ages 9\, 10 and 11\, will shoot with a women’s regulation size basketball from a foul line 12-foot away from a 10-foot high basket.\nGirls\, ages 12\, 13\, and 14\, will shoot with a women’s regulation size basketball from a foul line 15-foot away from a 10-foot high basket.\nBoys\, ages 12\, 13\, and 14\, will shoot with a men’s regulation size basketball from a foul line 15-foot away from a 10-foot high basket\n\nWhen:       Saturday\, January 29\, 2022\, at 12:00 pm \n\nDoors will open at 11:00 pm for registration and practice shooting.\n\nWhere:      Village Northwest Unlimited Gymnasium (in the Wansink Center). \nAnd…       First\, second\, and third place medals will be awarded for boys and girls in each age division. \n\nThose finishing first and second in their respective divisions will advance to the district level of competition\,\nThose participating will also have an opportunity to win other prizes.
