SUMMARY:The BIG (Build Innovate and Grow) Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The economic development organizations in northwest Iowaare teamming up to offer $10\,000 in prize money for The BIG Challenge grant competition. \nThe BIG Challenge encourages entreprenuers to Build\, Innovate and Grow their business in northwest Iowa. The contest gives entreprenuers and small business owners the opportunity to submit their dreams to start\, or expand a business and then encourage friends\, family and customers to vote for them online. The finalists will present their idea to an audience and judges in a pitch-off event for a chance to win thousands in cash prizes. \nFrom now until September 28th\, entreprenuers in Lyon\, Monoa\, O’Brien\, Osceola\, Plymoth\, Sioux and Woodbury Counties can visit www.iawestcoast.com and click on “The BIG Challenge” to submit their business\, or startup ideas. \nVoting on the submitted ideas will take place on October 1st through October 10th. During the voting period\, the entreprenuer will recruit others to vote for their entry online. The top three  vote-getters will advance to a regional pitch-off competition\, along with two additional entrants chosen by a selection committee. Each finalist will receive personalized coaching from the University of Northern Iowa’s John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center. \nThe regional contest will be helo the evening of Thursday\, November 20th\, in Le Mars at the Wells Visitor Center and Ice Cream Parlor (115 Central Ave. NW). That evening the finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their ideas with first place receiving $5\,000\, second place receiving $3\,000 and third place receiving $2\,000 to grow their business.

SUMMARY:Labor Day Games at Oak Grove Park
DESCRIPTION:The Prairie Woods Nature Center will have a special game for Labor Day weekend from Saturday\, August 30th\, to Monday\, September 1st. \nThe Sioux County Conservation Board will have a self-led Game Cruise at Oak Grove Park. Pick up a game card at the Prairie Woods Nature Center and cruise by vehicle through the park to find the items to win the game and come back to the Prairie Woods Nature Center for a prize. \nThis event is in partnership with the Hawarden Chamber and the Big Sioux River Days celebration.

Save August 30th through September 1st for a fun – exciting weekend. \nEvents include Yoga Sculpt + Flow with CKS\, 2 Sheldon Hall of Fame inductee’s\,Car cruise and burn out contest\, Celebration Days Parade\, a glow Walk\, Fly in Pancake Breakfast\, Aircraft display\, Arts and Crafts in the park\, Veterens Opening Ceremony and a Classic Car Show. \nSaturday is the Sheldon Hall of Fame Inductee’s starting at 9 a.m.\, Free Movie at Main Street Theatre at 10 a.m.\, mini rod tractor pulls one mile north of Casey’s on Washington Ave. from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.\, Community Patio at the Pavillion starting at 11 a.m. \nSunday Brings Community Worship at the Risefest Grounds starting at 10 am\, then a burnout contest will go from 5 to 7 pm in the Parking lot off of old 60 followed by the ever popular Classic car cruise from 6 to 9 pm and enjoy the Glow walk and light up the night on the rec trail behind the Pavillion. \nMonday brings the Fly in Breakfast 6:30am to 10:30 am\, Continues with the Classic Car Show starting at 9 am at the Crossroads Pavilion. Vendors show in the park along with Food Vendors. Celebration Day Parade starting a 2 pm and Laser tag and inflatables in the park to follow. All this going at at The Sheldon Celebration Days Event.
