SUMMARY:Immanuel Christian Reformed Apple Pie Sale
DESCRIPTION:Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon is making their homemade apple pies on November 1st. The pies are made from 3 delicious types of apples and the crust is made with care from their secret recipe. The pies will be frozen onsite after they are made and will be ready for you to take home and put in your freezer or bake that same day if you can’t wait! \nGreat for a gift\, the holidays\, or any time. Cost is $14 per pie. The proceeds from this fund raiser go to support the kids at local Christian schools. \nPies can be picked up at the Sheldon Christian School Gym between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Friday the 1st\, or between 7:00 AM and noon on Saturday the 2nd. SUMMARY:Great Pumpkin Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Hunting for pumpkins takes on a new twist with this archaeology program offered by the O’Brien County Conservation Board.  Bring your family and friends out to the Prairie Heritage Center\, 4931 Yellow Avenue\, on Saturday\, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. to take part in a “Great Pumpkin Hunt.” \nLearn about the worldwide practice of hunting with spears and atlatls.  After the archaeology presentation\, participants will head outdoors onto the nature center grounds to try their hand at throwing spears.  The “warm up” for the spear throwing will involve targets such as bison and mammoths.  After the audience gets familiar with the technique involved with spear throwing\, they will move onto pumpkin hunting. \nThis presentation will provide an interesting look at archaeology … as well as some October holiday fun.  Call the Prairie Heritage Center – 712-295-7200 for more information.
