DESCRIPTION:As part of the ongoing effort to clean-up Sheldon and showcase our community\, the Sheldon Marketing Committee would like to encourage and invite ALL Sheldon residents\, service groups\, clubs\, and organizations to participate in Sheldon’s 19th ANNUAL Community Clean-Up Day on Friday\, May 10 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. (Rain Date will be Friday\, May 17). \nThe City of Sheldon is pleased to once again have Sheldon Middle School\, St. Pat’s School and Sheldon Christian students joining in the clean-up efforts and we thank them for their enthusiasm and willingness to participate! The Sheldon Marketing Committee will gladly supply refreshments for all volunteers at the end of the clean-up event! \nTo make this event a success and really make a “clean sweep” of Sheldon\, the City of Sheldon askes everyone participate. SUMMARY:Sioux County Master Gardener Plant Sale
DESCRIPTION:The second annual Master Gardener Plant Sale will take place Saturday\, May 11\, just outside of the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Sioux County Office at 400 Central Ave. NW\, Orange City. \nThe sale will include a variety of plants. There will be a number of tomato and pepper varieties. Among them will be the Sprayless Peron tomatoes\, developed in the early 1950s in Argentina. These have the reputation of being so disease-resistant it is the only tomato not requiring spray to fight disease. The tomatoes are 3”-4” in diameter and have a complex\, slightly sweet flavor. They are good as slicers and for salsas/sauces. \nSeveral heirloom varieties will also be available. In addition to having donated plants\, seeds and more for sale\, Master Gardeners will be on hand to offer advice and hear your stories of plant successes. \nAmong the goals for the sale are to raise funds for community gardening projects\, to offer a variety of plants and to find homes for all the donated plants. \n  \nThe sale will be held May 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the drive area just outside of the Extension office (the former hospital in Orange City). \n  \nDonations are still being accepted.
