Instructor Dave Oppegard will provide all instructions and supplies needed\, including easy-to-use templates to make a beautiful southwest style gourd bowl of your design. This year’s theme is Animal Designs of the Southwest. You will choose your own design elements\, including bison\, bears\, birds\, turtles\, and many others. Beads\, leather\, woodburning\, stones\, pine needles\, and other accessories will be available too. \nThis class is limited to 14 people ages teen through adult; the cost is $20 per person to be paid at the door. Everything \nyou’ll need\, including the gourds are supplied. If you have your own acrylic pens you are welcome to bring them along. \nPlease bring your own sack lunch and snacks. A widow and mother\, she has spent the previous two decades on her white husband’s farm\, finding solace in her garden even as the farm is threatened first by drought and then by a predatory chemical company. Now\, grieving\, Rosalie begins to confront the past\, on a search for family\, identity\, and a community where she can finally belong. In the process\, she learns what it means to be descended from women with souls of iron—women who have protected their families\, their traditions\, and a precious cache of seeds through generations of hardship and loss\, through war and the insidious trauma of boarding schools. \nCo-sponsored by Hawarden Library. Do not have to read book to participate\, but encouraged to do so. The Hawarden Library will have copies available for check out. \n

DESCRIPTION:Tickets are on sale now for the 24th Annual Sportmans’ Banquet scheduled for August 17th and the Crossroads Pavilion in Sheldon. \nTours open at 6:00 p.m. with dinner begining at 6:30 p.m. The dinner will be a BBQ dinner with prizes and displays. Adult tickets are $20\, children 14 and under are $15.
