SUMMARY:Art Exhibit at Northwestern College
DESCRIPTION:Artwork by faculty in Northwestern College’s department of art and design is on display in the Te Paske Gallery through Feb. 27. \nThe three-person exhibit features photographic transfers on paper by Phil Scorza\, chalk pastel drawings and acrylic paintings by Meghan Charbonneau\, and ceramic sculptures by Amy Williams. It marks the first time each artist has shown this collection of their creative work in a gallery setting—and the first time they have exhibited artwork together. \nScorza serves as a professor of art and design and department chair at NWC\, where he teaches graphic design and photography. He has a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Iowa State University and Master of Fine Arts from Lesley University College of Art and Design. Prior to joining Northwestern’s faculty\, he worked as a graphic designer and creative director for more than 20 years\, both in the corporate world and as a freelancer. \nCharbonneau\, an assistant professor of art at NWC\, holds a bachelor’s degree in studio art from Iowa State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from Washington State University. Her art has received numerous awards at juried shows in states that include Washington\, Connecticut\, Wisconsin and Ohio. \nWilliams is an adjunct instructor of art who teaches sculpture and ceramics at Northwestern. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from California State University\, Long Beach\, and previously taught at George Fox University in Oregon. \nNorthwestern’s Te Paske Gallery is located in the Korver Visual Arts Center\, on Highway 10 at 214 8th Street SW in Orange City. Gallery hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

This special performance reimagines some of the most iconic songs of the 1960s\, spanning beloved hits from TV\, film\, and radio\, including “Mission Impossible\,” “Meet the Flintstones\,” “Georgia on My Mind\,” and “Good Vibrations.” \nA classically trained violinist from Copenhagen\, Denmark\, now based in San Francisco\, Mads Tolling is internationally acclaimed for his jazz artistry and improvisational skill. His illustrious career includes two Grammy Awards in the Classical Crossover category with the Turtle Island Quartet. \nSince 2020\, Mads has been a member of Bob Weir & Wolf Bros\, touring renowned venues such as Red Rocks\, The Greek Theatre\, and Radio City Music Hall. His contributions to the group include several arrangements of Grateful Dead songs\, some of which he seamlessly integrates into his own performances. DESCRIPTION:To celebrate National Blood Donor Month the Community Blood Bank will have a blood drive Tuesday\, January 21st\, at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. \nDonors can schedule their donation by logging onto cbblifeblood.org\, selecting “events”\, and January 21 or call Community Blood Bank at 605-331-3222. All those who donate blood will receive Hy-Vee gift card as a thank you gift. \nBlood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form available at cbblifeblood.org)\, weigh at least 110 pounds\, and be in good general health. Individuals displaying cold or flu symptoms are unable to donate. Valid identification is required at registration. It’s recommended to eat within 3 hours of donating blood\, and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood.
