Accident Just North Of Sioux City Claims Life Of Hinton Woman

James, Iowa– A Hinton woman has died in an accident at the Sioux City metro community of James on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 10:30 a.m. , 64-year-old JoAnn Martin of Hinton was driving a 2021 Chrysler minivan westbound on C70, in James. They tell us that 53-year-old Scott Mitchell of Hornick was northbound on Highway 75 in a 2000 Freightliner truck.

The report says that Martin was crossing the northbound lanes to turn south onto Highway 75. It says Martin pulled into the path of the Mitchell truck. The truck struck the left side of Martin’s minivan and both vehicles crossed the median into the southbound lanes. The truck overturned and blocked the roadway.

Martin died as the result of injuries sustained in the crash. Mitchell reported no injuries.

The trooper says Stockton Towing, and the Hinton Police and Fire Departments and Hinton Ambulance Squad assisted at the scene.
