Hull, Iowa — A hog confinement was destroyed in a fire on Friday, January 17, 2025, near Hull.
According to Hull Fire Chief Greg Van Roekel, at about 8:30 p.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a hog confinement fire at 2753 US 75 Avenue, four and a half miles north of Perkins Corner or two west and four north of Hull.
The chief says the fire department saw half of the building was fully engulfed in flame as they approached the scene. He says they used an exterior attack to fight the fire.
Van Roekel says no injuries were reported, and the building was empty at the time of the fire.
The fire department was assisted by the Rock Valley, Boyden, Sioux Center, and Doon fire departments.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
