One Taken To Hospital After Accident South Of Alton

Alton, Iowa — A Le Mars woman was taken to a hospital after an accident near Alton on Friday.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 2:00 p.m., 63-year-old Evan DeHaan of Alton was driving a 2007 John Deere farm tractor pulling two loaded Demco grain wagons northbound on Highway 60, two miles south of Alton. They tell us that 40-year-old Amanda Loers of LeMars was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion northbound on Highway 60 behind DeHaan when she struck the rear wagon.

The Ford sustained about $12,500 in damage. The wagon sustained about $10,000 in damage.

The Alton Ambulance took Loers to Orange City Health. She was cited for following too closely.

The sheriff’s office reports that the Alton Fire Department, Alton Ambulance, Orange City Fire Department, Orange City Police Department, and Iowa Department of Transportation assisted them with the response to the accident.
